Been here a couple of times now, always spot on. Great food, the salmon starter was fresh and tasty and the roast that followed was beautiful. Succulent lamb, crispy roasties, homemade yorkies and the veg was perfectly cooked, no mush! At this point I was pretty much stuffed but I just about made room for pudding! The chocolate tart with ice cream was the perfect way to finish up and shortly after I slipped into a food coma for the rest of the day. Shout out to the staff as well, friendly and attentive.
Well, book in advance. We turned up on the spot about 4:30. They guy said he might get us a table after 5. Once 5 came we were told they are fully booked. After a few minutes he said he can squeeze us in and put us in a table. How pleased we were. The food is amazing and we really enjoyed it. Value for money is really good. It must be the first time I left food in my plate and that was the Sasuage and Mash. Will
Defo go back and book in advance. Great place, great staff and the guy that managed to get us in, well all I can say is a massive thanks.
What a great and reasonably priced gastro-pub. Came here with a co-worker for lunch whilst spending a day in Liverpool and cannot recommend highly enough! Friendly and attentive service in pleasant surroundings.
Wonderful Gastropub. A lot of thought and attention go into the food at this pretty and elegant pub. However, do not expect cheap prices, because the food is high-quality, much of it locally sourced and hormone -free, and prepared with care. I had a rib-eye steak sandwich and order of homemade chips, both of which were excellent, with the bread likewise homemade (i.e., fresh baked in house). The sizes of sandwiches are large, so you might want to share. This pub specializes in wine, and the wines by the glass and the bottle are varied and interesting. It makes sense to make reservations for dinner; ordering just a glass of wine or beer is easy, but the place is known for food and hugely popular, so plan ahead.
Varied menu. The menu here changes often and it offers a good selection of rarer dishes in Liverpool. The offers are good value for money and staff are always professional. I wouldn't recommend it for Sunday lunch as you can get better elsewhere in the centre for less.
Excellent Restaurant - The Monro. Me and my wife sampled the super Christmas menu Saturday 18th December and found it totally spot on.
My wife chose mushroom risotto followed by the turkey meal with goose fat roasted potatoes (mouth watering) and all the trimmings then baileys cheesecake -
Washed down with a nice bottle of merlot.
I chose the home made chicken liver pate with crusty bread with side of caramelised onions, main meal was fall off the bone lamb (beautifully cooked) with chive mash followed by baileys cheesecake -
Every bit was delightful, could not fault a thing, we highly recommend this fine restaurant for a lovely cosy atmosphere, if you can get a seat there before the Christmas menu goes off the board you will not be disappointed! Don't miss out if you can.
Staff are fabulous, place is cosy, warm and perfect for a total delightful meal.
I shall be returning asap....
Thanks to all there, see you soon
Steve
Proabaly the best food in Liverpool....??. Been several times now and NEVER disappointed. Atmosphere is great and the service good and the food exceptional. If ever we want a meal out in town that we know will be top drawer, it's always the first place we cal!
Brilliant Roast. We visited The Monro last Sunday for a late lunch and were tremendously impressed by the whole experience. The food was fantastic (Ham Hock terrine starter and Roast Beef main being particular highlights). There was a real buzz about the restaurant and the staff were attentive and helpful.
Both the food and wine were exceptional value (£11.95 for two courses and a bottle of lovely Malbec for £14).
Not to be missed,
The Monro. A great place for a romantic meal - the food was great as was the service. A brilliant dining experience without being astronomically expensive. Well worth a visit!
£8.95 2 course dinner menu or £11.95 evening menu. Thats dirt cheap for the amazing quality food. Even full priced meals are value for money. I'll be shocked if this doesnt become a michelin star restaurant...why isnt it already??? 5 stars
Excellent beer on draught. Lovely, comfortable atmosphere, tasty traditional food with a bit of sparkle, and a wonderful, changing variety of beers on draught. Can't go wrong here.
Great place to take the whole family, no kids menu. But excellent food and fantastic service!
Went to The Monro on a Saturday for a bottomless brunch with a group of around 12. We had a great experience of this place, the option of drinks was amazing, the staff were super helpful and supplied the drinks whenever we needed, we weren't limited at all.
We all pre ordered our food which arrived in good time and was a generous amount. Overall the experience was definitely worth the money.
Food was delicious but find it odd to charge extra for pitta with the hummous.... was I just supposed to eat it with a spoon ??? Cocktails are to DIE for but left waiting 20 mins with no drinks at one point meaning we only got 5 drinks on our bottomless brunch.
Food amazing! Wanted bit more of a menu to match the amazing restaurant and more of a desert menu. Staff attentiveness could have been better, chatty bunch which is fine as long as they are checking on people. Overall great value for money 💯
What a brilliant Valentines night we both had in The Monro!
From Ellie, who answered my query very quickly via email, and who also served us on the night, as well as Paisley, Eleanor and Dan, who all made sure we had a lovely evening.
They were all friendly, professional and courteous. A credit to their parents and The Monro.
The food was amazing, as were the cocktails that just kept coming!
We never had an empty glass, and even had a reminder 5 mins before our 90 minute time slot was up.
Their choice of food and drinks/cocktails makes the bottomless option a MUST!!
Highly recommended and we can't wait for our next visit.
The Monro, now called Ethos at the Monro, Greek food with drinks & cocktails. Huge servings, no photos of the food as it was eaten straight away 🙂. Had the open suflaki with very tender chicken breast, delicious, as was the sticky toffee cake.
Really enjoyed a bottomless brunch here. The drinks options are fantastic and the staff are genuinely friendly and attentive.
One star off for the ladies loo - definitely needs some attention.
Wouldn't stop me returning though, good atmosphere and good value.
We came for bottomless brunch. Everything was amazing! The food was delicious, drinks choices were so varied and tasted gorgeous and the staff couldn’t have been better. Thank you. It was perfect! Can’t wait to come back 🙂
Food is 5 star and the staff are lovely - loses marks for the state of the toilets - taps missing and dirty, which is a shame as the rest of the place is really nice.
Edit: Thanks for the response Will (shows that you care!) - the toilets really are dirty, and as someone with IBD is great to hear that you're going to sort them out! I will be back!
Had a fab bottomless brunch with my work colleagues. Food was gorgeous and the bottomless drinks were great. Really recommend it. Only downside was ladies toilets which kept flooding and staff had to come to mop it up all the time.
On our first night back in Liverpool, we were looking for somewhere a bit different for dinner, Monro stood out to us when looking online for somewhere to eat as they have a Greek inspired menu.
This pub is deceivingly huge! There are many areas to sit and enjoy a pint or have food. We sat in the restaurant area which had a lovely nautical theme to it. I ordered the 7” Chicken souvlaki whilst my partner had the beef traditional wrap.
Both dishes were packed full of food and flavour, we cannot fault the portion size, the service we had was really good, pricing is spot on, considering we had three drinks (2 cocktails) and two main courses for under £40, you seriously can’t go wrong.
