India House Restaurant

We were enthusiastic fans of India House and it's downtown predecessor, A Taste of India. Unfortunately, India House has closed its doors and we are currently looking for a replacement. We decided to try this restaurant and found that although nothing we ate was quite as good as that previously served at India House, it was nevertheless a very enjoyable meal. One criticism I would offer is that the sauces were a bit bland for my taste. I am not referring to the level of heat, but rather the complexity and intensity of the flavors in the masala sauce and the rogan josh sauce. I was happy to find that the lamb masala contained bite-sized pieces of onion and strips of green bell pepper. Novel in my experience, but very enjoyable. Also the lamb was tender and generous, and the poori bread and side salad were excellent.

Really enjoyed this place. We made a few mistakes as a table such as making about 8-10 different bread orders as well as some folks at my table ordering a meal similar to the appetizer we got so they got way too much of the same food, but overall everything was delicious. If I lived closer I would definitely want to have Sahota Palace in my rotation of Indian restaurants.

I’m pakistani and I went here with expectation that it is catered for non Indians. However my mouth felt all sorts of flavors and spices. Not over the top but just the right amount. I did survey other people in their who weren’t Indian and they all seemed to be visibly satisfied with their food. BUT if the food didn’t already put me in food heaven. THE MASALA TEA IS A MUST TRY! Absolute knock out the park! Best chai ive ever had. Please stay awesome you make me feel at home with my mother who is an excellent cook Edit: I’m talking about buffet only on this review which is very affordable! I’ve ordered take out before and had it for dinner and next days lunch :)

Everything was really delicious. I don't usually like much Indian food but I keep trying different things to see what I like. I got a variety platter for dinner and mixed veg appetizer. Asked for extra sauce and they were really generous. They completely forgot the rice on delivery though, which was the main reason I ordered.
