Oystermen is a fantastic option for seafood in the heart of Covent garden. As it was summer we dined Al fresco and we couldn't fault any of the food.. being in Central London the cost of certain dishes including oysters are pricey, however you get what you pay for - good quality. We really enjoyed the dressed oysters and also the crab thermidor! 🦀 make your way there!
Amazing oyster house. Their dressed oyster are the best we have found. Try the buffalo, whiskey/dill, tempura and Japanese. The fresh oysters never disappoint and the whole Dorset crab is amazing. We have been here multiple times this year and will continue to come back ever time we are in London.
BEAUTIFUL EXPERIENCE
We had dinner at the Oystermen last night to celebrate my friends birthday. When I made booking beforehand I mentioned the occasion so when we arrived we got served complimentary sparkling wine and even a birthday card from the team. It was incredibly sweet!
The whole experience was wonderful and the food excellent. The oysters were fresh and a must-try are mango and wasabi oysters.
The service was on point as well. Our waiter Marek was attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. Also his colleague Oriana was great!
Big thanks to the whole team of Oystermen for a fantastic dinner. We left very happy and in wonderful spirits!
I’m definitely coming back and recommending the restaurant to everyone!
Our favourite place to get Oysters in the UK.
Always fresh and a great relaxed vibe.
They sometimes run out of varieties, but I forgive them as whatever they do have is so fresh and well chosen!
The restaurant was fairly hot on a reasonably mild day and felt quite cramped. The air conditioning seemed to be off.
The service was good, as was the food. As it's seafood, it's inevitably quite expensive. The dressed oysters were excellent and the crab thermidor was very good (albeit extremely rich). The lobster risotto was too creamy for my liking and therefore a little difficult to finish.
It was interesting watching the chefs at work in the open kitchen. I would suggest, though, that there should be a no phones during service rule, because it's unappetising to watch those responsible for preparing your food continually move from handling their phones to handling food (without hand-washing in between) when phones are known to be dirty. While possibly unavoidable, it's also not that appetising to watch plates being scraped into the bin while eating.
We had the best time here. The service was fantastic, sooo friendly . Lovely bunch of people. We had Loch Fyne oysters and then the Hake. The best oysters we have had in a while. We chose Loch Fyne ones. They were huge, plump , juicy. Just divine. The Hake was so delicious. So was the anchovy toast. My MIL just had a small plate prawn and some chips as she doesn't eat a lot but it was enough for her. The whole experience was just fab. I couldn't recommend it enough.
Excellent oysters - fresh, different types and the leg was removed. Great staff, although everything was booked - we were given a choice to move inside (it was a bit windy cold on the outside). Very well cooked and seasoned fish. Enjoyed the 🦀 (claws are cracked before serving and inside meat from the shell is in the separate bowl). Great experience!
The waiters were super nice and welcoming. We had our first oysters ever and they were great, we ordered four types..
The anchovey toast was delicious. The Cod's Roe Mouse with polenta was so great and we ordered another one.
Highly recommended place
First experienced the Oystermen at Weymouth Seafood Festival, where their oysters were the best we had that day. Had wanted to visit the restaurant for a while. The oysters were outstanding, we had the three different types available. They were super fresh and well prepared. We also had a couple of starters, the crab Thermidor, which was delicious and quite peppery and also the tiger prawn with harissa which was sweet and perfectly cooked. Lovely service and great staff. Loved the shipping forecast which was being played in the loos. Would happily return.
A delicate seafood restaurant at Covent Garden offers various oysters. The daily seafood options are listed on the board, including oysters and crabs.
We tried the top three on the board on the day we visited. I personally like the creamy taste of the Loch Fyne oysters, and the other two of my friends agreed that the mineral taste (or the smell of sea?) of Jersey Rock were their best!
There are also cooked oysters for different preferences. We ordered a pan-fried sole fish and it came up amazing in size. It’s great just that a bit annoyed by the tiny but hard fishbones. The king prawn was tasty as well.
Don’t miss out the chips here! The two desserts we tried were the cheesecake mousse and the chocolate lava cake. They were all topped/sided by good sense of decorations and made good balance of the taste
