Absolutely amazing restaurant, beautiful views, amazing service and some of the best seafood I have had 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
If you haven’t been you should give it a go 👌🏻
Sloth’s humble opinion has been that this maritime tradition is not adequately reflected in the classic British repertoire of seafood dishes. So a great seafood restaurant in London is always something to be celebrated and cherished, not only because it is nice to eat fish and nice to go to restaurants, but because the sea is so much a part of who we are. And Smith’s does some excellent fish. There’s meat on the menu too, but the emphasis really is on surf rather than turf. [Read more...]
Lovely food and setting. I have never been disappointed and always enjoy whatever I order. It's also a nice walk from the city, especially along the river.
No reservation [1830], great table, good friendly service, food was good. One glass of wine we had was exquisite. Ha duo room for pudding so asked for two hot chocolates - not on the menu - not a problem. Will go again with more people. Very good experience and a great view of the river/sunset/tower bridge.
To cater for these well to do urbanites who are relocating to this quieter and more hip suburb between the City and Canary Wharf, there are thankfully a couple of interesting restaurants...we decided to visit Smith’s, a restaurant overlooking the Thames river which specialized, surprise surprise, in seafood. For the starter, I went with the tiger prawns tempura. Although these were incorrectly labelled (that is not tempura batter!) they were juicy and succulent inside.
We had our 25th wedding anniversary lunch here with a wonderful meal. The meals were all fresh and interesting, the wine was delightful and the service was attentive. The view of the sun setting on the Thames made it a special day!
This was simply a Top Ten meal in my book. The setting along the River Thames, the stunning views from the restaurant, the smart and elegant decor, the top-notch service and the excellent food made Smith's Restaurant one of my most memorable restaurant experiences.
Fantastic table, great service and perfect food. Our valentines day was made very special by all the staff and did everything they could to make our evening worth the trip.
Birthday dinners with great food great atmosphere and a stunning view! Ask for a table by the window for the best view.
We have been here twice now both times for birthdays and we have visited smiths in ongar many many times. If you are a smiths enthusiast you have probably been to Alec in navestock as well.
Smiths wapping blows them all out of the water. Although the menu is not massively imaginative or spectacular or even particularly different from ongar etc, everything about this place is a step up.
The fish in any form , grilled, battered, fried etc is all beautiful. Ocean fresh, beautifully white and cooked to perfection. We have experienced the same perfection here with sea bass, cod, plaice, lemon sole and skate.
The surf and turf was overlooked sadly but the lobster was the only let down. The fillet was beautifully cooked second visit.
All the portions are huge, you definitely won't leave here hungry. The smoked salmon, prawn cocktail, calamari, tempura prawns.... All very well put together and presented.
Puddings...yum. The sorbets are a great end to the meal on a bulging belly especially after a couple of the tasty French martinis. We have sampled the apple tart, Eton mess, ice creams and baileys cheesecake and are yet to hear a complaint!
A couple of big ticks for this place...
Real mint leaves for the mint tea
Very fresh fish
Stunning view of the river, tower bridge and the shard
Disabled lift and toilet.
One drawback.... Decaf coffee only comes in filter.
All in all this is a must go which you will keep coming back to for the food and the amazing view.

I can wager you that you won't be able to find this place if you haven't been to wapping before - well if you win, your prize would be this gem of a restaurant and if you loose, you get to see wapping!
I won't be exaggerating if I say that this place serves one of the best fish in London. You can get the fish the way you prefer - grilled or fried. We tried the prawns, crab and Atlantic cod, all of which were legendary. Try getting a seat by the river as the view of Tower Bridge from here can simply take your breath away.
If you haven't been here, your quest for the best shall remain unfulfilled!
Went here for my wife's birthday celebration. Was amazing customer service from when we entered the restaurant. Impeccable service from the waiting staff, friendly, efficient and fantastic recommendations. This added to the overall experience and my wife was very happy with the choice of restaurant. The food was top class. I would highly recommend if you want to pull all the stops out to impress that someone in your life.
We had the most incredible wedding experience at this restaurant! From start to finish, everything was absolutely perfect. The service was exceptional, with the staff going above and beyond to ensure our special day ran smoothly. They were attentive, friendly, and incredibly accommodating.
The food was a highlight of the afternoon. Every dish was a masterpiece, leaving our guests raving about the culinary delights. The menu was diverse and catered to various dietary preferences, impressing everyone with its taste and presentation.
The staff, from the event coordinator to the waitstaff, were fantastic. They were professional, personable, and genuinely cared about making our day unforgettable. They anticipated our needs and were always ready to assist.
Our wedding at Smith’s of Wapping was a dream come true. We can't thank the staff enough for their hard work and dedication to making our day so special. It's a venue we'll cherish forever!

Thank you for having us to dinner in this fabulous restaurant with the wonderful service. Our table number is No. 2 of the night 22/9, with great service of the waiter, sorry that we forgot to ask about your name that we would like to give you a compliment. Food is great, fresh and in right cooking. As always, people is as important as food.
Second time I've been to Smith's. Amazing food and excellent service. Staff are really friendly and done to earth. Food was perfectly cooked. We ordered cocktails and a bottle of champagne. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary - the staff brought out desserts out on special 'happy anniversary' plates which was a nice touch.
Located by the river Thames is the perfect location to enjoy a variety of fish dishes. We had drinks at the bar before we moved to our table. Enjoyed the calamari, cod, and chips and all the other dishes. Service was attentive, and it was a great atmosphere. Definitely will go back to enjoy more of their dishes.
Since 1958 this restaurant has been serving London's East End great sea food. I call it the more reasonable alternative to Scott's of Mayfair, although, good fresh sea food is not cheap. The food we had, lobster, dressed crab, mussels, grilled sea bass and oysters, expertly prepared was all washed down with a lovely English white wine and was served to us by a cheerful and lovely waiter called Lex who we thank for his gracious service. It is perched on the Thames with great views and is surrounded by some good pubs. I will be back.
I had an amazing dining experience at this restaurant! The seafood was absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection, and left me wanting more. However, I must mention that the service was a bit slow, which was a minor downside to an otherwise fantastic meal. Nevertheless, the delectable seafood made it all worth it, and I'll definitely be back for more!

One of my favourite restaurants to dine at. We had the burrata and calamari to start followed by the halibut which I highly recommend and lemon sole with scallops for main. The restaurant is great value for money, with filling portion sizes, a starter is not necessarily needed however we saved ourselves for this meal. The prices are a little on the high side compared to other restaurants but the quality of the fish and service from the staff is unmatched. Perfect for a special occasion meal.
A very good place for seafood by Thames. Fabulous oysters and an interesting menu with plenty of variety available on the a la carte menu. A couple on our table had the set menu and both had food envy when seeing everyone else's dishes. So I recommend the a la carte menu.
We had scallops, octopus, and lemon sole dishes which were all excellent.
The service is very good. The wine list is wide and varied. And the view is fabulous for a twilight meal. Would like to see a few interesting beers on offer. Otherwise, a very pleasant experience at a reasonable price. Would recommend a meal for a special occasion.
We celebrated my daughter’s 40th birthday here a few weeks ago. There were 14 of us sitting down for lunch on a Sunday, and the food, atmosphere and service were (as usual) all exceptional. Thank you for giving us a birthday celebration to remember!
