Christmas High Tea with Carols - One for the Bucket Lists!
Over the Christmas period, we got to experience the magical Christmas High Tea that The Ritz offers.
🔆 The ambience was something I doubt I’ll ever experience again. The room was filled with beautiful Christmas decorations that added to the overall feeling of elegance. The Christmas carol singers beautifully sung accompanying a pianist. Their voices filled the room without overpowering it. It really did feel truly magical.
👥 The service was outstanding with each waiter sticking to a clear role. They all seamlessly worked together to make such a smooth dining experience. It was actually quite remarkable watching them all perform their work.
Whilst it wasn’t a cheap High Tea, it was everything we expected PLUS more! It was an experience that I’ll never forget and truly cherish from my visit to London.

The high tea is what the English truly love and stand for, and its that afternoon mingling that we had a chance to do at one of the uber luxury hotels in the world - The Ritz, London.
The array of teas offered was simply unique and delightful. Among others that we sampled, was the Darjeeling first flush and the British favorite, Earl Grey. Each tea had its distinct flavor and lasting taste.
The accompaniments with the tea were some delicious pastries, sandwiches, and cupcakes.
The luxurious Victorian decor, with ceilings decorated in gold and white, the live music played by a master pianist, the polished butlers and servers who engaged with us in the most pleasant manner - all gave us a truly lasting experience of the quintessential afternoon must-do in the British atypical day, in an exceptionally luxurious manner nevertheless - High tea at The Ritz
The dining room is magnificent, the atmosphere luxurious, the service immaculate, the food sublime. For me the highlight of the meal was the grouse, cooked medium in a sous vide it melted in the mouth. but then the lemon soufflé was very close second.
This is the most authentic place one can go to for afternoon tea in london. The decor screams victorian and dated. The staff is the most polite i have ever come across. The toilets are still called powder rooms. Everything is so pretty. The best desserts i have had till now. The tea smelled so good and the sandwiches have never been so tasty before.
My wife and I had a truly amazing lunch we were made to feel welcome and special. The dining room looked beautiful and service, food and ambience was perfect we would not hesitate in recommending the Ritz.
We had afternoon tea at the ritz. It is a must try experience. Everything was very nice, the decor, the cutlery, the glasses, the cups, the food, the desserts, the tea, except the scones, they can be better. Highly recommended.
If you have the money to spend then The Ritz is a must! Knocks away any posh restaurant by a mile in terms of quality 🥂. From the moment u walk in, until you leave, expect treatment like you are nothing but royalty ☺️ Glass chandeliers, pure silver cutlery, 18th century Louis XVI style architecture, and a massive grand piano are small examples of the things you'd find at The Ritz. 😅
With great amusement both my brother and mother said “Are you going to blog about the Ritz?!”. The whole reason I blog is to share fun experiences that I’d like to remember and may go some way to answering questions may have about them. Well the Ritz fits into those categories perfectly, a fun birthday experience for mum at an iconic London hotel.
This place was everything and more than we wished for. Since we stepped into the restaurant we were welcomed with great warmth. The service, food and the entertainment was top notch! We had lovely Davide, Alina and Luca looking after us and making us feel special. We visited The Ritz Restaurant due to a celebration and we we presented with a celebratory cake at the end of our night which even made our evening extra special. The entertainment started with a piano performance followed up by a lovely male singer whom had a soothing voice that you could sit down and listen all night long. We would like to thank you for making our day an unforgettable and splendid experience.
Exceptional.
The hotel is so cosy and beautifully decorated, cocktails in the bar were very nice (although service was a tad slow as very busy), and the food was perfect. Pianist and singer came out about 7.30 which was also great.
We had the Beef Wellington for 2 which was cooked beautifully and cut at the table, couldn't fault it.
Obviously the whole thing was a tad pricey, but for the next special occasion I'll be heading back with no doubt.
Absolutely magical experience at the ritz dining room. Having dined there before I strongly recommend you DONT take the tasting menu, as all the fun stuff (crepes Suzette flambéed at the table, beef wellington etc) is not part of even the 7 course tasting.
Service wasn’t flawless but was very very good, absolutely loved the langoustine and beef wellington (it’s too big to finish). Crepes Suzette is a MUST order for dessert, and they even gave us complimentary birthday cakes. The room is stunning, and the crowd is very mixed. Remember there is a dress code for gentlemen. Perfect for a special occasion, would absolutely return.
Truly a 5* experience all around. Langoustine and Wellington were superb.
Our sommelier William was excellent and helpful.
Appreciate the privacy and consideration as well.
Perfect.
Visited for afternoon Tea and couldn’t recommend enough. The service was unmatched and the food & atmosphere was impeccable. Although arriving late due to traffic issues- upon arrival, any stress disappeared. There was a large selection of sandwiches, cakes, & teas which were all delicious.
We started off the evening in the bar to sample one of their speciality cocktails but it was a bit rushed and we didn’t get any accompaniments such as olives. The dining room looked lovely and the waiters and sommelier were very friendly. We both opted for the a la carte menu and chose the Dorset crab starter with almond soup, apple and fennel and a crispy tuile on top. It was accompanied by a little tart. While we waited we got an amuse bouche of little stuffed delicacies and bread and butter. All delicious. The presentation of the starter and how it was served to us by our waiters Oliver and his colleague was beautiful. The course was so tasty. We then chose the sea bass and stuffed courgette as our main course which turned out to be quite substantial. The fish was cooked to perfection in terms of it melting in your mouth but was a bit too peppery for me. In fact I would have said the main dish was a fraction too highly seasoned which overpowered the flavours of the fish and accompanying courgette. There was a little delicacy stuffed with crab too which was my favourite bit. However my husband loved the whole dish. For dessert I chose the chocolate soufflé with vanilla chantilly cream. Wow! It was one of the best soufflés I have ever had. Soufflés are my go to dessert if on the menu so I’ve had quite a lot!
My husband opted for the strawberry dessert which was another exceptional course both in terms of presentation and taste.
Finally there were petit fours - all lovely.
We had chosen a great accompanying wine. However as so often is the case the serving of the wine and water started out well but as the restaurant got busier we had to wait more and more for replenishments. A bit disappointing in a restaurant that prides itself on its service and charges enough!
As regards the atmosphere - again it started out well. The piano player was good and not too loud but the second half of our dining experience was rather spoilt by the discordant and very loud singing of the soloist. Her song choice was less of a problem than the key she was ‘singing’ in. We weren’t the only ones to complain about the level of noise being emitted. We were told she was not a regular singer used by the restaurant. Overall I would say it was a reasonably pleasant experience but once the restaurant got busy everything became a little frenetic.
Excellent meal and service, food of the highest standard. As good as anything in London currently. Pidgin and Turbot dishes were amazing
Everything of the top notch quality! First of all, the interior os stunning. It’s truly unique and beautiful. You don’t get to see too many places with such tradition, it simply looks and feels royal. So you immediately feel special. The food is classic and super tasty. Have something like lobster or crab, so you make it even more festive. For the main, do take Beef Wellington as it will be served with a ceremony and you will not regret it. It is the perfect Beef Wellington so you will always have one to compare with, for all your BWs in your life. And then, finish with chocolate soufflé. Mastership of desserts. Definitely worth looking at the wine list, have a glass of champagne. The service is super nice and they will let you feel special. I had meals at different 3 Michelin star restaurants, but they were nowhere close to the experience at Ritz. The spirit of Escoffier is still around.
We celebrated my mothers 80th Birthday on Saturday. It was a fabulous occasion made all the more special by this remarkable venue, its staff from the moment we set foot on the steps right through the evening of dining and dancing.
Special thanks to our table team of Diana, Mihai and Will the sommelier who really looked after us.
The praise you receive is well deserved and I recommend anyone who loves a grand occasion In amazing surroundings cared for by delightful professional staff to visit.
The food was beautifully crafted. We all argued what was best, but it seems the lamb won the day!
Thank you all and see you next time.
Certainly an experience to have at least once, if you can afford it. Dinner for 4 with (not expensive) champagne was about £800+. The food was excellent, but not better than our (much less expensive) high class restaurants in our home town. The presentation, wait staff, and ambience was, of course, impeccable. I had the lamb, which was ordered medium but came out medium rare. The sauce was good but lacked some depth of flavor. That is the way I felt about most of the food there. The wait staff is always present to fulfill any of your needs. Some of the choices involve tableside preparation, which is always a great show. Overall, a great experience.
