A warm and cozy restaurant in Hammersmith. I am such a huge fan of Moroccan cuisine and this place did not disappoint. We ordered the hummus and chachouka as starters and merguez couscous and roasted chicken breast and finished with the baklava. We went with our toddler and while the place didn’t have high chairs they do however have low seating that are perfect for kids. The chef and waitress were very understanding and patient. When the food arrived it smelled exquisite and tasted so good. You will definitely not be disappointed by the food or the place. Highly recommended.

I have been here twice already and will definitely come a third time. The food is great, especially the tajine dishes, such as the lamb one. The service is very quick and the waiters are really nice. I was even offered a drink at the end of my meal. Overall the restaurant is perfect.

We were here for a friend's party. It is a tiny hidden gem with brilliant food and service!

I haven't eaten so much food in the longest time. Their portion size is fine but the contents are quite filling. We had a party menu and I chose these -
Nibbles - Hummus + pita bread
Starters - Briouat (pastry with a filling of brie and goat's cheese)

                Calamari
Mains - Tajine zitoune (chicken breast in lemon sauce) and a side of cous cous
Dessert - Baklava

Tend to nibble a lot on the pita bread, which fills up tummy space reserved for other food. Fantastic food, served piping hot and on gorgeous earthenware. Only disappointment would have to be the baklava.

Staff is cheerful and extremely friendly. We had a good banter with them.

Small, very cozy restaurant with appropriate lighting and decor. Can get slightly squishy if you are in a big group. More a place for smaller groups of 4-5 people.

Ask a North African where he or she thinks the best place to eat a tagine is, and the answer will invariably be, “at home”. For those Londoners who don’t possess a cherished family recipe or aren’t interested in cooking, there is a cunning, dishes-free alternative; Azou in Hammersmith. Ideal for a night-out with friends or family, Azou’s menu showcases flavours from across the whole Maghreb. That means you’ll not only get to feast on the Moroccan dishes you know and love, but you’ll get to sample some Tunisian and Algerian cuisine too. Starters are for sharing at Azou so the more the merrier. Order the omelette-cum-pancake brik, filled with egg, potato and tuna if you want something tasty and new. The baba ganoush is smoky and deep while the briouat triangles of filo pastry, filled with melting brie and goat’s cheese are very naughty (and gratifying). All of the starters offer contrasting textures and flavours to get you warmed-up for the main event. While you soak in the atmosphere of dining under a richly coloured tent, prepare yourself for your ....

Never-ending banquet Azou - with its Bedouin-style decor - is a cosy, little restaurant on King Street, Hammersmith, serving fabulous North African food. W6 residents were probably trying to keep this little piece of perfection to themselves. However, it's particularly popular since Gordon Ramsay's Best Restaurants TV series when it topped the 'best North African restaurant' category in 2010. It's also won a shed-load of other awards - with good reason - and you do need to book in advance. My visit last night was for a friend's birthday and we had the Azou feast set menu - an amazing banquet that seemed to be never-ending! It included all five of these 'starters': ~ olives marinated in chermoula and a piquant sauce ~ king prawns in a spicy coriander sauce ~ calamari ~ falafel - patties of minced chickpeas, fava beans, spices sesame with tahini ~ bourek - crisp pastry filled with marinated minced lamb, herbs spices king prawn calamari falafel bourek And a choice of main course, from: ~

Azou is a gem. It's a small, comfortable restaurant, draped with colourful cloth and bedecked with hands of Fatima. The menu is a bit limited (I.e., there are 2 vegetarian options) but the food is delicious.

To start we had chermoulla olives and hummus with harissa and warm pita bread. Mains were a Tagine al ein and a Barber tagine, the latter being one of the two vegetarian dishes on the menu.

The tagine al ein is a sweet lamb dish, with the combination of apricots and cinnamon leading to a smell reminiscent of a Christmas pudding. It was rich and delicious. The Berber tagine was more savoury, and spicier. Both were filling and tasty.

The service is friendly and helpful, attentive but not stifling.

At £80 for two, including a bottle of pinot grigio, Azou is great value. Michelin agree, awarding Azou a Bib Gourmand for four years running.

The Azou is a North-African restaurant with a full menu including a range of tagine dishes: chicken to lamb, seafood, and vegetarian choices. The waiter was very knowledgeable and helped us select the side dishes. I chose the traditional lamb with prunes, apricots, almonds, and walnuts. The sweetness of the sauce perfectly complemented the tender piece of lamb. There is a wide range of desserts: Baked nut cake, lemon sorbet, vanilla ice cream, and authentic coffee variations. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. We highly recommend it.

Despite I’m not in a position to claim it is a very authentic restaurant as I’m not Moroccan, I have a very strong feeling it actually is! The lamb tajine with prunes is divine and so is the couscous! Very kind service and nice atmosphere. New fav in the neighbourhood!

Very authentic experience. Service was nice and personal, very accommodating. The tagines are really special, we were also treated to some homemade chilli sauce that was so good we bought extra to take home! Would go again.

This place is very authentic and welcoming. The starters stole the show. The main course was good as well. If you are not someone who enjoys eating spicy I would be careful. Also the portions were too big for my liking. Other than that this is a great place.

A little North African jem, with food style spanning from Tunisia to Morocco, authentic and hearty. Generous portions, flavourful, a real soul food experience to pair with a small selection of North African wines.

Visited for a birthday. Cosy atmosphere, friendly staff. The food was incredible, I had the Tajine el ain and it was so so good. Will be back and will definitely be recommending Azou to anyone willing to listen!

So delicious! A great place to experience Moroccan, Tunisian and Algerian food all in one place. The tagline was fantastic - just barely touch the lamb and it melts from the bone

North African cuisine so good your mother in-law will love it and so will your wedding guests! I accidently discovered this little gem while on a stroll in Chiswick in 2006 and the food, amazing staff and the wonderful cheeky chap that runs the place,Chris, have always made it a worthwhile evening. As a Native North African, it was always hard to find restaurant food that comes close to home cooked cuisine from back home; Azou with it's cozy ambiance serves up dishes with the love of a homecooked meal coupled with the refined delicate flavours of a Michelin star restaurant. I have always enjoyed every meal at Azou, I even took my Mrs on a date there and she liked it so much she took her mom (a North African lady who refuses to eat anything from outside) and she loved it so much we ended up having our wedding dinner here. The food was great (as always) but beyond feeding the hungry guests, we want to thank Chris and his team for helping create one of our most cherished memories. We will be back as always.

Excellent experience. The restaurant was full and we were worried that the food would take a long time to arrive but service was spot on. Didn’t wait at all. Food was extremely tasty and plentiful. We will defo be coming back!
