Really helpful and informative staff, she was quite passionate about what she was selling. What seemed like a large portion to me, she clarified that I would still feel really light after I finished it because Vietnamese food is naturally gluten free. After finishing my huge delicious pulled pork coconut curry, I definitely do feel light!

I found The Little Viet Kitchen when I saw a video on youtube channel "FoodTube" (Vietnamese 'Pho Ga' Chicken Noodle Soup). The recipe that Thuy Pham-Kelly cooked was so amazing that I decided to visit her restaraunt.

I chose to try the vietnamese fried spring rolls and pho bun bo hue and the choice was perfect. Really delicious. The food was very amazing, the waiters was very attentive and the bills was "nice".

Definitely, I will come back.

This is probably the fanciest Vietnamese restaurant I've been to. Although the authentic flavors of the Vietnamese food is still there, just improvised and with a twist. I had to try the LVT iced coffee and it was a treat. I was expecting the typical Vietnamese black coffee with condensed milk but it was different and it was nicer than I expected. It wasn't as sweet as the usual Vietnamese iced coffee and it consisted of coconut shreds and some tiny specks of coffee beans. I loved it! For the entree I ordered the specials which is quail bedded with sticky rice, crispy fried onions, crumbed aubergine and pineapple. This dish was perfect! The fusion of the crispy qual leg and fried onions worked so well with the soft sticky rice, aubergine and pineapple. Also the fresh herbs and the pineapple added freshness to the dish. Lastly for my main I had to order the Pho - the famous Vietnamese beef noodle soup. Although it is a little more pricey than other Pho I've bought before, they are not stingy with beef and fillings which makes it worth it. The broth was authentic and it was just right. I walked away feeling happy and satisfied.

The Little Viet Kitchen serves traditional Vietnamese noodle, pancake and soup dishes; hidden away in Islington. This Vietnamese restaurant is a real gem and soared in popularity over social media so I had to check it out. On a cold Wednesday evening, I met up with Aftab from Fresh and Fearless to try The LVK’s menu and we were sure excited to document our visit. Unbeknown to us; the owner of The LVK restaurant was serving and we had the pleasure to meet her in person and to experience the food first hand through Thuy. She told us a cute story how the trinkets, chandeliers and ornaments around the restaurant were recycled from her Wedding and that the beautiful wallpaper was all done up by her and her husband. With little money to open up a restaurant; you just gotta DIY and she has done an amazing job because it feels very warm and welcoming.
Drinks: We tried every Vietnamese coffee they could offer and my favourite by far was off-the-menu Vietnamese Coffee/Espresso Martini. I have noticed that this is now on the menu which I am sooo glad to see :) it was a life changing martini for any espressotini lovers.

Starters: There were so many deliciously sounding starters to choose from so Aftab and I decided to order a few and share between us. They had some special of the day options and went for the Prawn scotch eggs with a twist. Served on a bed of salad; this was the best scotch egg I have ever had. Warm and crispy, the yolk was perfectly runny…I wish I had another! It’s not on the current menu but be sure to check the their specials. Aftab ordered the beef wrapped in peailla leaf; the minced beef is organic, lightly fried served on a bed of Vietnamese salad. It was really tasty; but my scotch eggs were so amazing it took the limelight for starters.

First Main: Thuy recommended the Banh Xeo (cripsy egg pancake) to share as she warned the pancake was almost the size of our table. We chose the lemongrass chicken filling served with fresh herbs, lettuce, carrots, cucumber and fish sauce. Despite the size; it was rather light so more room in my tummy for a second main. A couple sat next to us and stared at our very large pancake; we knew they were intrigued so as fans of LVK, we told them what that was on the menu and suggested what we had already to try. They certainly took our word for it :)
Second Main: Beef pho noodle broth…an 8 hour slow cooked broth with noodles, onions, 6 different cuts of beef and a nice chunk of bone (sucking out of it for flavour was optional). You can’t go in to a Vietnamese restaurant and not order a pho and it’s true, I really enjoyed my pho but the bowl was so huge; I actually couldn’t finish it. It was so filling, I was rather sad that I couldn’t order any dessert! Sad times; but that meant I was going to come back for more and eventually try their dessert. Thuy was an amazing hostess; incredibly passionate to the food, the ideas, the restaurant and most importantly; her customers love for her food. I cannot wait to come back. Absolutely lovely little shabby chic Vietnamese restaurant. The quality of the food is so evident, there's so much love put into each meal. Service was also great! I requested halal chicken prior to coming and the lovely owner accommodated my wishes. I felt so welcome here

Amazing little restaurant in Angel, super cozy interior, delicious food, friendly staff, reasonable prices. What more could you want. The chef started out with a supper club at home and opened this place a few years ago. This year it was voted best Asian restaurant in England! And for good reasons. The dishes are absolutely delicious. Try the great street food snacks such as pork spring role or soy sauce aubergine and mushrooms. The lemongrass and coconut curry is heavenly but not for the faint-hearted. It's all rounded off by a great bar with plenty of infused gins and great cocktails. Try it, you won't regret it. What a magnificent little spot with the most attentive and personal staff. We didn’t have a bad dish, but the highlights were the coconut beef curry, broccoli & pork spring rolls. For dessert, the cheesecakes are divine 😁 Also if you fancy a tipple, the top shelf tequila is worth a shot

Very nice place away from Angel station and hustle of Islington. Beautiful flavours and fresh food - at Islington prices! The coconut and lemongrass curry was great though a little on the "too much chilli for me" side - and I can tolerate hot Indian chilli food. The pho was fantastic as was the pork dumplings starter. Cheesecake for dessert is a must - very light and not too heavy.

A charming little restaurant that serves up delicious, probably the best, Vietnamese food in the Angel area. If you’ve never been, you’re missing out. A real treat. The restaurant staff are incredibly warm and friendly and do a great job entertaining & looking after the various diners. We met the owner who told us all about the restaurant, how long they’d been around and kindly shared his go-to order - beef short rib in chicken stock....divine. I can’t quite remember the name but picture attached - picture worth a thousand words... Make sure to sample a cocktail when you go as these are particularly good and always taste fresh. The Vietnamese sausage is like a sweet, less smoky take on chorizo and well worth a try if you’re of the meat-eating variety. The phos are hearty and full of flavour but the owner’s favourite - not quite a pho but a lesser known alternative here in the UK - is now my go to and highly recommended! As the restaurant is so popular and a little on the small size, booking is advised to avoid disappointment. There are plenty of pubs and bars within walking distance, should you need somewhere to wet the whistle beforehand. Enjoy!
