My first visit to l’Amorosa was so early that they still had the old Lola and Simon sign above the door. The restaurant has now officially been open a few weeks and it is gradually adopting its new identity. Ex Zafferano head chef Andy Needham works with just one kitchen assistant, cooking a slightly simpler version of the Italian dishes that he prepared for so many years in Belgravia.

The room is one two levels, seating up to 40 people in all, with a further eight outside in good weather. The décor is simple but tasteful with wood flooring and white walls, the lighting in the evening very low indeed. As a nice touch, there is free WiFi with a respectable 10 MBps download speed.

The new wine list had just over two dozen labels, ranging in price from £13.50 to £88, with a median price of £34 and an average mark-up level of just 2.4 times the retail price, a bargain by London standards. Example wines were Orvieto Classico Tomaiolo Castellani 2013 at £19 for a wine that you can find in the high street for £7, Castellare di Castelina Chianti Classico 2012 at £40.50 compared to a shop price of £16, and Alois Lageder Pinot Noir 2009 at £60 for a bottle that will set you back £28 at retail price.

Papardelle with salt marsh lamb ragu featured very good pasta, cooked precisely, the dish accurately seasoned. The ragu could for me have been even deeper in flavor, but this was a very nice dish (14/20).

Roasted corn-fed chicken came on the bone, served with crisp sage and served on a bed of puy lentils. This was a comforting dish, the seasoning again precise, the sage a useful addition (14/20). A mixed leaf salad on the side had a well-balanced dressing, fresh leaves and good quality cherry tomatoes.

The dessert of orange cake was served warm and was nicely moist, topped with orange segments and zest, served with excellent vanilla ice cream. Coffee was a brand called Climpson Estate and was excellent, rich and avoiding bitterness.

The bill at lunch for one person, with just water to drink came to a mere £22. In the evening, with a bottle of wine to share, a more realistic bill would be perhaps £55 a head, still very good value for cooking at this level.

We had no expectations & in fact we initially thought the restaurant was closed for the evening. So glad it was not as our night was just special. It’s a relatively small restaurant but it is very personal and intimate. Andy the chef & his wife Lynne, who works the floor, are the owners & they can be so proud of what they present. The moment we walked in, there was a homily atmosphere. We were presented with a very relaxed welcoming & just a delightful feel. Lynne’s “offsider”, Angela, was also a beautiful person & as we were the only patrons at the time, we enjoyed the opportunity to chat to both ladies & get an understanding of the challenges & things they had overcome in recent years to ensure the business was a success. And then the real joy came when we were presented with our meals. We passed on the starters & decided on mains only. OMG how good. Jude went the Ravioli with a beef ragu. Being a big seafood fan, I decided on the special which was a prawn pasta. I think Angela described the pasta as being on steroids!!! Just incredible flavours and oh so good. We both left nothing and even better, unlike some pasta meals, we did not feel as though we had overeaten. Of course we had to try desert - chocolate mousse ( my wife was amazed how good it was) & I went the fig, frangipan tart with ice cream. Again they were exceptional. A fabulous night to farewell our time in Hammersmith. There is no doubt when we return to the UK ( fingers crossed again next year) we will be visiting Lyn, Andy & Angela to enjoy their food & hospitality. Price wise it may be a little on the high side for some & their budget, but when you try the food you will not be disappointed. If you are not happy after eating here you are hard to please!!!! Thank you all. See you again - Huge Aussie smiles from us both!!!! 😊🇦🇺👍🙏

We are regular customers at L’amorosa- the food is understated but exquisite with a great team working there. We love it so much we asked Andy and Lynn to cater our wedding. They were endlessly helpful and creative about the menu planning and were genuinely enthused by the project. The food on the day was wonderful - seasonal ingredients beautifully cooked. We had so many compliments on it and everyone really enjoyed it. They were also hugely accommodating to more niche demands / kids. Couldn’t recommend enough (for dinner there or catering out) - thanks!

Excellent pannacotta with passion fruit and mango sorbet (£10). I would have it again in a heartbeat. My main course of percheri with king prawns (£24) didn’t come in at the same time as others so they offered me a free dish! The service was great. A local gem.

Andy and Lynn recently hosted a birthday lunch for us. We had the most delicious food and they were really accommodating of our requests. Their relaxed and friendly approach and service made it a really special day for us. Our friends were blown away by the food and were full of compliments. Highly recommended!

Very nice location, with a friendly and professional staff. The food is delicious, and it reflects the real italian flavours. The level of the dishes is standard (not a Michelin restaurant) but perfectly executed indeed. The price is good, as we are in London, were 60£ each for a complete nice dinner is the standard. Recommended.

An absolutely fabulous dinner at L'Amorosa on their opening night with my husband. The service was friendly, attentive and quick, and the food is freshly cooked and absolutely delicious! My husband is a fussy eater so for him to clean the plate is a sign that the food is top notch. The menu is reasonably priced and well portioned. It's like taking a trip to Italy but not needing to leave London and one of those memorable meals that leaves you wanting to come back for more. They have strict COVID-19 procedures in place and they're also now open for lunch which is great too. Would definitely come back!

Very excellent. Surprisingly very good for a high street restaurant even in upmarket Hammersmith. Fantastic main course and the best presented pudding I have eaten! Efficient, attentive and friendly service. 10/10. A bit expensive but definitely worth it.
