Cafe Tiffin is a pleasant little restaurant tucked away on Compton Street. The dining room is very small and it is quite possible to find yourself the only diner outside peak hours.
The favourites are available, including a businesslike grid on the menu listing curry dishes against a selection of meats and the food is pretty good. There is a reasonable selection of beers and wine, though it must be said that it lacks atmosphere. Cafe Tiffin's real draw is its very competitive pricing, which few Indian restaurants nearby can better.
Cafe Tiffin serves a good selection of pleasant Indian food at a very reasonable price.
I came here recently with a friend who loves Indian food, and given that they accept the taste card we thought it worth a shoy.
On entering, it has all the feel of a small, pretty standard indian take-away which has thrown in a few chairs and tables to expand its options. The interiors not the best, but I'm all about the food so was happy to overlook.
As it was empty, we were immediately seen to by a friendly waiter and quickly made our orders.
Now, I am a purveyor of many Indian restaurants and I was expecting a very average meal. However, the waiter returned ten minutes later with a sizzling tray release wonderful aromas and promptly served us excellently cooked pieces of meat as our starters.
Our mains also were much better than I expected given the look of the place: not the best curry I have had but certainly very good with huge pieces of chicken. It is worth noting that a lot of people collected take away orders while we were there, so i think it is popular with the locals.
On the whole, the food and service was very good, but it is slightly let down by decor/style of the room itself. But,if you're looking for a reasonably priced indian with some friends, it is definitely worth considering.
Amazing food. The flavors were fantastic and every dish was delicious. The lamb shank fell off the bone and was amazingly tender. The Murgh Makhani was perfect, if you like butter chicken and can handle spice, get this. The onion bhaji, poppadoms and chutney, samosa, stuffed mushroom and king prawn puree were amazing starters. I wouldn't change anything about this place, and it is BYOB. I will definitely be back here.
