The best curry ever! Absolutely delicious, surprising, authentic Indian food. I definitely recommend it.
Had a meal there last Sunday evening as I was in London for the week with work. Excellent food and hospitality. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. I had Chicken Tikka Jalfrezi and it was gorgeous. I would highly recommend this restaurant in Camden to all my family and friends when they are visiting London.
Really lovely Indian restaurant, really attentive staff and great food. Soft shell crab was delicious not at all greasy, main was a lamb dish and the meat was very tender, although I would have preferred the chilli added to the dish rather than on the side. The dessert was really delicious. A real hidden gem in the chaos of Camden. We were one of the first dinners that evening but the restaurant was packed when we left!
Namaaste Kitchen is a modern Indian grill and bar in Camden Town, just few minutes walk from the tube station and bus stops. I love all kinds of curries, rotis, naans and everything fragrant and spicy so when Michelle has chosen Namaaste Kitchen for our next meeting venue I could not be more happy!
June in Camden. Not quite April in Paris, but it’ll do. Satisfaction hasn’t been found in any of my visits to Indian restaurants recently: Dishoom was bland and Trishna overrated. Famous sub-continental hospitality has been non existent, and I’ve been having nightmares about Saag Aloo ever since. Namaaste Kitchen, a lazy stroll from Camden Town tube, is the second restaurant from ex-Chutney Mary chef Sabir Karim. It’s something of a hidden gem in blogging circles, despite Fay Maschler and Matthew Norman’s definite praise. Aside from tourist traps and greasy spoons, I suppose Camden is something of a foodie Bermuda Triangle. But were we lost at sea at Namaaste Kitchen?
Bless them, they do try hard. The year-round regional food specials sound intriguing: there’s a focus on Hyderabad in February; Goan cuisine in March; Lucknow specialities in April; and all things Mumbai in May. There’s also a tasting menu available, as well as a chef’s table. This is all far from a traditional Indian, and sounds like a lot of work for the kitchen. We went for a mixture of staple dishes and original creations: Kadhal spiced pan seared scallops (£5.50), Dumpukht biryani (£13.95), and Monkfish tail (£12.95). These were all well-above your standard high street fare, aside from (a recommended) Stir-fry okra with mango (£3.50), which was underripe and didn’t really pair well with our own choices. And okra is a taste I’m still trying to acquire. Complimentary poppadoms and chutneys are provided in copious quantities, and Naan breads (£3.50) were some of the best around.
The almost pretty dishes, whilst a little rough around the edges, are filling and well-priced – you could easily eat here and roll out of the door at around twenty pounds per head. Perhaps if there was a little less emphasis on cheffy touches – plate squiggles, amuse bouches, quirky crockery (thanks, Masterchef) – the kitchen could really focus its efforts. The dining room also is a little dated. But the staff are fantastic, and I’m told the restaurant is continually packed with Camdeners in-the-know. They can’t all be wrong.
We went to Namaste for dinner before a gig, the service was incredible, the waiters really smiley and friendly...we were given complimentary appetizers and the food came out really quickly. I also ordered a small glass of wine but they gave me a large for no extra cost. It's a must go, I would definitely go back if I was in Camden again.
On the way back from London zoo stopped here for dinner. Good thing is they still remember what spices are and how to make food delicious with the same. We had old Delhi chicken biryani which was a bit ovespiced for the kids but delicious nonetheless.
Then we had pav bhaji which was custom made for the kids. A bit too buttery I for my preference.
Great staff and environment. By the time we left it was full, sat night.
Visited with my father as a meal before we parted on our 2 day break 7/6/23.
Laying down on Primrose Hill he suggested we for an Indian. This came up as being well regarded in the local area.

A fantastic meal of exquisite flavours. Spices, yogurts, sauces and a wide array of ingredients made for a satisfying & filling feast.
My starter of Samosa Chaat in particular was treat and certainly a indication of joys to come.
Fantastic food! It has been a long time since I've eaten such amazing Indian food! I had garlic nan, popadums and walnut paneer. My cousin had an amazing chicken masala with the most beautiful sauce I've ever seen and tasted. What a fantastic place!
Excellent food and service. We were bit worried about the North Indian taste because we are from South India but the food was amazing and Specially Mr. Emon was outstanding with his customer service. Old Delhi Chicken Biriyani is a stand out dish
This has been my first time ever eating Indian food and the dishes I ordered in this restaurant made me fell in love! The quality and the flavour of the food it’s superb, the presentation it’s very nice as well.
As the location and the food are 10/10, a slightly warmer customer service would definitely make the difference.
I defined recommend it!
Went for dinner here, ordered a korma and massala. Both dishes had far too much coconut and were so sweet. Naan bread was nice and the staff were attentive. Good atmosphere.
Awesome place to enjoy good food, good drinks and great people. Flavor and quality are two of the best strengths of Namaaste Kitchen. The manager (maybe owner) of the restaurant along with the staff made it an even better experience.
I’ll be traveling back to London with the family in the summer and will definitely come back to enjoy the exquisite food and joyful people at Namaaste!
Cheers!
While visiting London we ended up eating here a few times because we honestly couldn't find many amazing restaurants were interested in while visiting Camden area.
The service was excellent in our opinion and the food was delicious. We tried a number of dishes and we loved all of them.
The only negative was they served us warm white wine on one occasion - but after that we just stuck to our usual cider and beer and everything was fine :)
Good table seating.
Bar available.
Staff is nice soft spoken. Service is also welcoming.
Always better to have table reserved although walk-ins also available.
Both veg and non-veg food taste is good. Spice level is low to medium.
If you order papadam its per head charges.
Paneer should have been cooked more softer.
Naan and curry's tastes really nice.
Accept payment by card , cash.
Prices of hard drinks are a bit costlier according to me.
Avoid ordering Mango Lassi. Looks tasty bt doesn't have authentic taste.
Very nice local Indian restaurant. Very extensive menu selection with some tasty dishes to be had. Very friendly attentive staff.
