Nice food. Good service. I don’t usually eat at pub, but that was a great surprise!
🚇 Sloane Square 🍺 £6.70 Estrella ❤️ A handsome Chelsea Gastro. . The Phoenix is situated in the heart of Chelsea just off the Kings Road. Getting here is easy, Sloane Square tube is a pleasant ten minute walk. . There is a claim that this is the oldest pub in Chelsea, records show that this pub was built in the late eighteenth century. However, The Crosse Keys near Chelsea Embankment currently owns this title. . This pub has a beautiful tiled exterior and ornate balustrades running around the first floor which make this pub very easy on the eye. . The decor here is traditional with a contemporary edge. The walls are painted pastel colours with an eclectic mix of prints dotted around. The seating is a mix of traditional tables and chairs, banquettes and a cosy booth to relax in. The severy is located on the left hand side with the main dining area at the rear of the bar. . The beer selection was good, I opted for a pint of Estrella. My pint was decent and price point was to be expected. The food menu is elevated pub classics, Fish & Chips costs £18.50. This pub is popular on Sundays for its roast dinners, Roast Chicken with all the trimmings comes in at £19. . I visited with my Daughter around 3pm on a Sunday lunchtime, the pub was busy with the majority of punters here for a roast. There was a nice buzz around the pub and the vibe was upbeat. The service was good, we were served by a friendly member of staff who sorted our drinks in no time at all. After we got our drinks, we looked for somewhere to sit and noticed a few empty tables with knives and forks on. I’m not a fan of empty tables with cutlery on as I feel that it acts a deterrent for drinkers not to sit there. We ended up sitting at a low level table which did feel a bit like a waiting area. . @thephoenixsw3 is a cheerful pub which is popular with locals and those who are after a bite to eat. In my humble opinion I feel a few more provisions could be made for those here for the beer. Overall, It’s a well run pub with a nice environment, definitely worth a look if you’re in and around the Kings Road. . ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 05.03.23
FISH…AND…CHIPS! That’s what I wanted when I visited London. Like any tourist, my wife and I visited a few pubs in the area to imbibe on classic British cooking. The Phoenix serves in my opinion the best fish and chips in Chelsea. I’ve had some variation of fried cod and French Fries back home in the USA, but nobody does it better than the mother country. Two young fellows were running the bar and front of the house when we arrived and they were busy, but both very pleasant and attentive. The kitchen was out of several items, but we didn’t mind as we had an objective in mind. The Young’s London Original ale has a fruity aroma, amber color, and a slightly bitter finish. For fellow Americans, very similar to Yuengling. The atmosphere is vibrant and warm. I’ll be sure to try the Phoenix Pie next time. If you’re in the mood for excellent fish and chips or a nice pint then you should visit the Phoenix in Chelsea. Cheers!
