Do you ever find that in among all the hustle and bustle of daily life, between all the rushing around from work, to seeing friends to planning your social life and just keeping your head above water that you've not really taken any time to yourself recently? . Well, I have to admit that I'm a huge fan of some me time. In fact, I insist that I take some me time every once in a while tjust to calm down, relax and just be with myself.
Now my nearest lunchtime option, with the exception of Chipotle, Fernandez & Wells is a touch pricey and the take away sandwich options aren't too sizeable, but eating in as a treat is a decent option.
A touch heavy on the bread, sour dough in particular, the dishes are nonetheless of a high quality and the chorizo I had with my omelette and bread was delicious. I hear the coffee isn't too bad either.
perfectly flavoured chorizos with a heavenly spicy smells are over here. Plan your visit when you are around Foyles in Soho or just around for some music shopping around Denmark streets, you can also hang out in the Alley Cat next door after the food.
Has a fairly good selection of wines, and their daily favourites are on the boards around the bar. A comfy place for gathering 10-20 people, which can be rather hard to find in some neighbourhoods.
I popped into Fernandez & Wells to pick up a croissant on my way to work. I'd been meaning to visit for a while as the place looks so welcoming from outside - it's always glowing in the evenings. The selection of baked goods on the surface is very tempting, but I went with a plain croissant which was a tad pricey at over two pounds. However, it was very good and worth the price for a brief treat, served in a cute paper bag.
I love that this blink-and-you'll-miss-it coffee place in Soho does an excellent line in ham and cheese. I went for tea (£2.50) and a generous slice (should be, at nearly £4) of Pear & Lavender Cake but regretted it after seeing the plates of cheese, chorizo and wine come out. The inside is lovely but too small to spend an entire evening in, unless you want to overhear students discussing Trotsky. I didn't mind.
The nearest experience to a genuine Spanish tapas bar you can get in London. Excellent wines, excellent coffee and a good selection of ham and cheese. I especially like the large ham platters.
If you're looking for nice ambient coffee house in london, F & W never fails to deliver. I like to head down here for meetings or a mid afternoon catch up with a friend. The coffee prices are too steep (£2.45 for a cappucino) and there is always seats available everytime i've been.
Great place to hang out Soho after all the other coffee places have closed. Good coffee, cured meats and a very cosy atmosphere. The only problem can be finishing a place to sit.
