It's no secret that I think the Dog and Bell is a gold star in the Deptford pub landscape but the black horse is on route to be a contender.
There is a calming atmosphere in the black dog while they serve up hype local Brick Brewery it’s literally brewed around the corner.
If you lurk around Deptford definitely get The Black Horse on your list.

My first visit to the Black Horse, I have enjoyed it immensely. I was made to feel welcome, excellent service from behind the bar. Rugby on the telly, stopped for an extra one and a pizza, both touched the heart! However, if you are a real ale fan....... All is Cask. Lovely visit, lovely people.
Good pub, shows premier league football. No cask ales and the prices are about 5£ a point (so normal for London). Nice, trendy vibe. Exposed brickwork. Pizza is the main food. Dart board too! 👍
Really cool place with some very good beers that stays open quite late.
Really enjoyed the pub since moving into the area. Great selection of drinks and the food is top quality (especially the garlic foccacia). Always has great sport on the big screen and the atmosphere always makes me feel welcome.
Under new ownership. This place has a very East London vibe in the South East. Good selection of craft beers and a full bar available, as well as a cocktail menu and pizza coming soon. Darts, pinball, and football on the projector when it's on (but it is not a sports bar). Really friendly staff and owner. Great ambiance. I'm so glad to have this bar in my neighbourhood.
Great staff and fun events and deals weekly. Has a projector to watch sports, a pool table, a garden, good pizza, cocktails and nice draught beer. What more could you want
Pretty place which has been improved to no end by change of management. Gone are the Millwall and English flags and drunk customers smoking outside. Instead you'll find a nice menu of cocktails and innovative g&ts plus real Italian sourdough pizza. The management is Italian so you can be assured that the pizza is authentic.
This pub has a great beer selection, a fantastic atmosphere and the pizzas are soo good! The black horse is definitely our local now.
There is ample seating, the layout of the bar is really good no matter what you're looking for: eating, hanging out, playing darts or watching football (there's a big projector screen on game days!).
Overall a really good place for a pint or three.
