Love that place. It's easy to miss though because you have to climb down stairs to get there. The fondue is tasty and cheap. The atmosphere is very cozy. The Polish lady who runs it is great too. Strangely enough, on one occasion, I wanted to go there with friends but it was closed because they had a "psychic night"!
Don't get intimidated by this small, dusty, old fashioned restaurant, the first look is misleading. After this unwelcoming narrow stairs, you will find a wine bar serving decent French food ( good but not all home made I guess) for quite cheap prices. The wine selection is impressive and the owner, an old polish lady is great. And she knows her wine.
For me, this place is a little gem.
If you're looking for a chic, modern wine bar, this is not your place. But if you're looking for an evening filled with great stories, interesting people and a well considered wine list in one of the most authentic watering holes in London, this place is for you. Elisabeth couldn't be a more gracious host, and if you're open to where the evening takes you, you will not be disappointed.
