I noticed this fairly new establishment as I was passing to White city so dropped in for a look. Very nice layout and friendly staff. I had a good draft beer then got tempted by the adventurous menu, despite having eaten earlier, and another beer. I will certainly return when I am next in London and try more from the menu.
Went to the Wellbourne Brasserie for Tuesday evening dinner. We thoroughly enjoyed it, I had Dover Sole and my wife had mushroom risotto. The sole was cooked to perfection, it fell off the bone but it retained it’s firmness. My wife’s mushroom risotto was very tasty too.
We shared a creme brûlée for pudding (which they anglicised to Burnt Creme). Whole bill, including two large glasses of wine was 58:50, very reasonable for that standard.
Special mention for our waiter Geza who was very attentive and knowledgeable.
With the recent opening of this modern European brasserie run by two ex-Dabbous chefs, Shepherd’s Bush / White City finally has a refined dining option that matches the standard of more high end central London restaurants.
The menu features a broad range of inventive British / European dishes, including a selection cooked on the charcoal grill.
Make sure to have a few vol au vents with your aperitif and the Iberian pork loin was the stand out from the mains.
Service is efficient yet friendly and in the summer months one can enjoy the balmy evenings on the outside benches, surrounding by verdant planters.
It has an extensive wine list, but you can also BYOB for £10 a bottle, which can make enjoying a decent bottle of wine with your dinner a much more affordable experience.
Overall a very welcome addition to the Shepherd’s Bush / White City dining scene.
Becky, the Manager, was extremely welcoming, patient, helpful and very well prepared to go through menu options for two girlfriends on an early Saturday evening catch up who weren't ravenous but definitely up to try a starter or two. To be fair we were her only customers at the time. Where is everyone ?!!! Gone on hols, glued to box sets, sitting in ice baths to cool down. This venue has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating with plenty of breadth to accommodate anyone, nothing cramped. There's loads of shade and the plantings give you a botanical feel without encroaching like they do in many pub venues. I was seriously impressed at getting a real ginger beer with bite served with copious amounts of ice and a lime wedge. Attention to detail is everything in this ladies book. Just £2.50. Our starters with two sides were pleasant enough. I couldn't was lyrical about my Lyonnaise salad because it was more fancy flat crouton than frisee. I felt my crush hens egg deserved to be a spilled across a green leaf bed rather than dipping croutons into its delicate soft centre. But hey l've been married to two chef's( not simultaneously ! ) so l'm picky. The sourdough was exceptional. l am addicted to it. My friend avoiding carbs on her tomato and mozzarella cheese starter still managed to grab a slice or two off me. On another occasion l will venture in to eat a mains.
I can't comment on service at busier times. It seems some customers may not quite get what this venue is. It's a low key, food n drink venue with a warm heart delivering a personalised experience of well prepared vegan, vegetarian, omnivore artisan cuisine. It's not a fast food, slap your money on the counter, take the package and go . There would be no pride in that. Let's raise the flag for venues with ambience, character and a definite sense of identity. It's real test will be if my Patti and Bun, Chosen Bun, and Bleeker's Burger afficiando son can sit down here and declare Wellbourne Burgers worthy contenders for his discerning palate. His father is a Japanese Master chef.
The Burgers with inclusive garnish of salad and chips at £10 is a veritable bargain as prices fiercely climb. Give Wellbourne a whirl. At the risk of offending their delicate sensibilities, l'm looking for someone to revive rhe good old fashioned Knickerbocker Glory. I'm Eton messed out, Brownie brownedoff, Snoring into my sorbet, and cheese eased out the door at Cheesecake variants. Please revive/ tweak this summer classic. It's what the long spoons meant for.
Nice place. Good virgin cocktails. Little bit pricey for lunch but the daily special sandwich and burger gave some cheaper options. Sadly stopped doing breakfast a little while back just as I discovered them!
Wellbourne is such a lovely place for lunch in the otherwise very stark area in White City Place. The food is really fresh and delicious and the service is great!
Stunning food, lovely service - a memorable meal. And such an interesting menu I am certainly eating here again soon!
Outstanding lunch with exceptional service!
