We booked here and due a miscommunication our booking got cancelled. However they called and apologised profusely for the mix up and offered us a table at time we had booked for.
The manager also said he would make sure there was a bottle of champagne on our table as a further apology for the mix up..
It's a set menu, either 2 or 3 courses and offers great value for money as everyone in our party really enjoyed their meals
All the dishes were beautifully presented and served by helpful, attentive staff.
There are a couple of supplements on the menu but most Prix Fixe menus have this so not unexpected.
If you're going to see something at the National Theatre this place ticks all the boxes.
Location ,food ,great value and good service.
But you do need to book as understandably it's very very popular.

Limited set menu but tasty and generous portions.
Service was a bit iffy. But convenience and good value for money for pre-theatre dinner

High-end food prepared well and delivered in an excellent atmosphere.
The food at House is excellent and really striving for excellence. Portions are modest but well-judged for a pre-theatre dining experience. I had the signature cauliflower dish which was brilliant, followed by an exceptional piece of roasted cod - I haven't had a dish this good in ages. My sticky toffee pudding was light with a rich miso caramel sauce and very moreish.
Our desserts were mixed up by service but this wasn't the end of the world. One negative I would say that doesn't help this is the obliqueness of the menu - the abstract listing of the ingredients rather than naming a dish means it can be difficult to judge exactly what it is you're going to get. I don't mind experimenting but explicitly labelling the dish may help some patrons to match their expectations.
Service was kind and attentive without being pushy.
If you get a view of the Thames it really completes the experience so try to get one of those tables if you can.
A really exciting restaurant and even more so since it has only recently reopened after a long closure. Chef Joe Allen is one to watch.

A wonderful experience. I was earlier than my friends and was immediately welcomed by all staff with a smile apiece. Food was stunning and, as a vegetarian, there were interesting choices. I was amazed by the lettuce crisps! (Apparently grilled, then roasted). My friends adored their pork and mackerel dishes too.
As for our main waitress, she could have sat with us for all I cared. Wonderful.

Good food but what made it was the service. Friendly, polite and attentive without being intrusive.
The chap with the floppy hair was our waiter and made our evening.

A simple wine list and daily specials of fresh caught oyster (some dozen varieties) and uniquely prepared fish await. What a treat. A whole filet of salmon and another of smoked haddock nestled in cream and topped with crispy mashed potatoes. The perfectly lunch for a late Autumn day in London.

Excellent venue for a quick but delicious meal before a performance at the National Theatre. Service is prompt but courteous (as they know how much time you have) and, while the atmosphere is somewhat sterile, the food is well above par.
On this visit, we all started with the smoked duck breast with figs and cabbage...it looked so good that I forgot to snap a photo of any of them though, and it was gone in a snap as it tasted so good too.
I then had venison loin, courgette pureé, game pasty, beets, bone marrow butter, crispy potato skins...which was, I think, the best dish served - it was perfectly executed and an excellent fusion of flavours. My wife had cod, clams, mash, leek, tarragon, which while also good, didn’t match the venison for flavour. My daughter chose the scallops, crispy mussels, caviar, courgette, pork belly - the presentation was a bit messy but again it tasted great and was hard to fault.
We then followed that with a dessert, as we had a little extra time, and chose the baked black cherry cheesecake, meringue, cherry & thyme sorbet. In a word: Yum.
Bottom line: if you’re going to see a play at the NT, eat there too. It’s not cheap but it’s a great experience and the convenience is unbeatable.
