Best pizza in east london. Traditional style, thin crust and incredibly tasty. If you order half a pizza they add a side salad with artichoke and a balsamic dressing, which makes an awesome and affordable lunch. It's the best value for money around as well in terms of quality. Order to go if you need to - the place is small and can get packed! I hear it's also a decent bar.

This small venue has a large selection of beers, a couple of decent wines and a nice pizza menu, thin, crispy and tasty, at really cheap prices. The staff is efficient and polite, the music good, they host gigs and have a couple of resident djs during the weekend, and overall a really nice vibe. Be ready to get disappointed by the lack of space and the kitchen closes at 9 pm.

Cheap, cheerful, a bar with no issues around entry, decent dancing music, and open late = overall win. Apparently does good pizza during the day.

This very small, easy to miss real ale pub is one of the few gems in Whitechapel, an area not known for specialist beer bars. You will find the Indo opposite of The East London Mosque on Whitechapel Road. Yes, it may look a grubby to the casual visitor; the décor, if you can call it that, is creaky, worn and a bit seedy. But what you'd be missing out on is a genuine passion for good national and international beers. More often than not, the glitziest pubs have the worst selection (only lagers e.g.), while the "boozers", the watering holes, offer a genuine range of high calibre ales. The Indo is one of those places. I just visited London for two weeks, and spent the better part of many late nights (the Indo is open till 1 a.m. on Mondays to Thursdays, 3. a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays) at this pub, as it was conveniently located diagonally from my hotel. The staff, mostly young people, are helpful and knowledgeable - they know their stuff. A selection of about half a dozen rotating guest ales of various styles is available on tap, and a great many more from the bottle or can. All the beers I tried were fresh and well-kept. In that regard, I can say only good things about the Indo. Be aware that classy beers come at a price, and that Indo - not being part of a huge pub chain (like Greene King or the Spoons) - does not buy large quantities from its suppliers. Thus, depending on the source and alcoholic volume, a pint goes from anything between just under 5 to almost 8 UKP on tap. That's not cheap, but I'd rather pay more for a distinguished craft beer than waste 6 UKP for an unremarkable international lager - which is the current price at most downtown London pubs (that usually close at 11 p.m. at the latest). Food (stone baked pizzas) is also available, but only between 12-3 p.m. and 6-9 p.m., respectively. The pub regularly offers musical "events" like jam sessions and other live music - which seems like a difficult proposition in such a small place. Background music will play throughout, and it can get obnoxiously loud. Hence, most often, I preferred to remain outside (there's a small bench, as well as a sill for glasses) and vaped while drinking. The Indo draws a mixed crowd (saw no elderly people there), but the percentage of twenty-somethings is fairly high. Occasionally, things can (and did) get a bit rambunctious, like when a customer who's had too much is being asked to leave - against his intentions. All in all, the Indo is a "sleeper" in the heart of Whitechapel, and very much recommended to any real ale lover who's visiting the area.

One of the nicest low key neighborhood bars around. It can be a little drafty by the door when it's cold outside but the changing selection of beers on tap and the friendly staff make more than up for it.

We came here as our first resuraunt in Britain. It's on the small side but has a lovely personality and the pizzas impressed my very picky husband. Which is actually a first! Very friendly! Great first choice!

Lovely staff and very tasty pizza with very crunchy crust. The toilet is a bit dire though.

Friendly late night bar with a good selection of obscure European beers and ales on draft. The beer isn't cheap though and £5 for a pint is not uncommon. It's a small place so gets lively quickly but never unpleasantly packed. The music is usually good and gets turned up later on, though the sound system has seen better days!

Absolutely love this pub! What a gem of a find in East London. Surprisingly undiscovered by tourists, this pub does some cracking German beers, in fact some of the best you'll get in London, and it's still reasonably priced. It's nothing fancy to look at, and it's pretty small so come on a weekend and you may end up standing outside. The toilets are also less than sparkling if that's something that bothers you..

Lovely well kept beers, and a good range of choice. Only four stars because of the limited space. Room for about 6-8 on comfy seating just inside on the right. The rest of the seating is bar stools, and a few more comfy seats at the very back. We didn't have any food, so I can't comment on that.

Great no thrills local pub with fantastic atmosphere, particularly on a Saturday when the funky beats play late into the night. No entry fee, fantastic variable beer selection, pizza and nice people! What more could you want!

Came on Saturday evening on way to Brick Lane, on a rainy night and this was a very welcome stop off. Different ales and lagers on offer from around the globe and not a generic lager in sight. We sampled the excellent Guinness which was as good as I've had in a long time and so easy to get wrong. Absolutely buzzing at 8pm full of interesting people and the bar staff were superb. A real unexpected treat

Great place for a beer after a long day. Always someone to chat to if you're heading over alone and usually easy to get a seat when with friends. Love the juxtaposition of people getting the beers in on one side of the street and people heading to the mosque on the other!
