We were lucky enough to have a friend with a pass that got myself and my 2 kids 9 and 7 in for free. If we had to pay I would rate it 3-4 stars depending on the price.
The interactive area is great for young children. Maybe 9-10 is the limit here, but my 9 year old enjoyed it.
The aquarium is small but really worth a look. Some weird fish and amphibians from around the world.
The butterfly house, which we had a booked timeslot for was small again, but still really fabulous, especially if your little ones haven't done that before.
I thought the music garden was a nice touch. If it were a nice day you can see views of London towers.
There's a small petting zoo and stuffed animals - taxidermy room too.
Quite a variety of different things to see and do. Very educational for kids and maybe adults.
I thought it was a fun way to spend a day.
I suppose London museums are free and pretty wonderful, but if you don't want to venture into the centre, this place is a good alternative.
Absolutely loved this place. Local to where we were staying, beautiful gardens and a great cafe! It's not as big as the Natural History Museum but I felt it was perfect for small kids who easily get too tired in the big one and never see everything anyway. I felt that was a great combination of Natural History and London Aquarium and perfect for our group with kids age 4 to 10. There also have a small animals farm but we run out of time, and we were there from 11.30am. Had a game of crazy golf too!
Would definitely recommend this place for families.
Good food , tasty specialities, and cakes, attractive setting indoor and out with very friendly service. And with the amazing museum, views over London, and imaginative gardens next door. Something for all .
A truly lovely gem! Our favourite local cafe on our doorstep and we have been going here for the last 15 years. Delicious cakes / snacks, baked goodies, great coffee! It gets really busy over school holidays / half terms. This cafe is a mum's heaven with little ones, children feel most comfortable and welcome here. The surroundings are lovely, especially in summer. Both my parents and my in-laws love this place too, they always look forward to taking their granddaughter to the cafe in the next visit.
The Horniman cafe is one of my autistic son's favourite places in the world! The team are lovely and so welcoming to him. The baked treats here and hot food is great. Excellent coffee. We live locally and come several times a week! We are really grateful to have this local community hub available to us. Thank you to all the team
The food is always great, home made sandwiches, packed lunch for kids, amazing pastries.
The design of the space could be warmer with softer furniture / colour on the walls but fine for a little pit stop.
Love this cafe. Live round the corner and have been coming for over 15 years. Great food, good prices but above all great service and atmosphere. The staff are especially friendly and welcoming. Thank you 😊
Great little cafe with the usual meals but also interesting baked goods I haven't seen elsewhere. Right next to the entrance of the museum so very convenient, and plenty of outdoor seating. Was served quickly as well!
A lovely local cafe with a great selection of food and cakes. My friends and I visit at least once a week for coffees and food. The staff are fantastic and service is great. Keep it up!!
The Horniman Cafe is a local institution and I've been coming here with my family for over 20 years. Really delicious and interesting food, kind, helpful and friendly staff and a beautiful location all year round. Run by an independent supplier its great to have a museum cafe that offers such a great range of options including locally sourced produce. I feel really lucky to have this on my doorstep.
This cafe is an amazing amenity for the local community and visitors alike. I have been a frequent customer with my family for 11 years since moving to the area and it's always a pleasure to see Anthony and Florence who have managed the cafe for many years.
The café was nice, with inside and outside areas. My only qualm is there was far too much tartar sauce in my fish finger sandwich it just became soggy and unnecessary messy. Far too much for my taste, I scraped most of it out. Otherwise, it was alright
