We had a lovely evening with my son and friends accompanied by nice authentic Mexican food and friendly staff, who even treat my son with free ice cream. Great gem in the heart of Soho :-)

A lively, delicious experience, with an authentic taste of Mexico. Try the non-alcoholic Horchata. Oat milk, cinnamony goodness for those with a sweet tooth.

The waitress was friendly and knowledgeable about the gluten free options. All the corn tortilla tacos are gluten free except the fish ones. They were all delicious although a little pricey. It's a shame the corn chips are cooked in contaminated oil so coeliac people can't have them.

I came to el camion last night for dinner. The atmosphere is lovely and cozy and staff is very nice. Prices are good. We had tortilla with fiaccola that were very good. Plates are very rich! We had a burrito that came together with rice and salad (included) that tasted good. We also had a salad with grilled fish. The salad was rich as well, it cames with taco and tortilla included. Fish was not amazing and it didn't actually taste so good. Btw I will definitely come back to try the chicken and the typical Mexican meat which suit probably more the Mexican cuisine!
We paid around £28 all together (we drunk coke and water)
At the end...I recommend this place!

Tequila enlivens your mood. And if you’re drinking the quality stuff it won’t leave you feeling hung over with a headache the next day. Does this sound like a shot of just-what-the-doctor-ordered? Then ándale your way over to Soho for taste of Old Mexico at El Camion. There’s an excellent range of top shelf tequilas, complemented by competently assembled and executed list of margaritas plus a tasty assemblage of Mexican dishes at El Camion. It’s a late hours/wee hours of the morning venue too! Ole? Oh yes.

Probably the first thing to make you smile on entering this basic cafe-style restaurant is the vast collection of pepper sauce bottles on four shelves that run right along the back wall, and the Mexican wall art including day of the dead paintings. The second is likely to be the impressive cocktail list – it’s vast! I ordered a cadillac margarita (tequila with lemon juice and grand marnier) @ £9.50 and H had a tequila espresso martini (tequila with kahlua, tia maria and espresso) @ £9.50. Along with the friendly service, this was an excellent start.
The verdict: No fuss, no frills Mexican food with an enticing cocktail menu.

Translated to be "rancher's eggs", huevos rancheros is a popular breakfast dish on rural Mexican farms comprising eggs served upon lightly fried corn tortillas and topped with a tomato-chili sauce. It's one of my personal favourite breakfasts and was initially intended to be hearty enough to give the workers the energy required to get through a morning of hard labour.

But before you go booking that plane ticket, first make a trip to Soho where for £8 on a weekend, El Camion are paying homage to this beloved national dish with sides of seasoned portobello mushrooms and a spicy potato stew which was surprisingly delicious.

Hearty to say the least, it'll give you the strength you need to face the hard day ahead - like a trip through Central London...

Browsing through my Twitter time line just before lunch, I saw their Twitter handle welcoming lunch goers around Soho with the hashtag #getinmytummynow. And at the spur of the moment, the decision to explore this place was made. The Mexican adventures continued.
At the door in all his Mexican grandeur stood Hank (pictured below) 😉. What a welcome!!
The place is colorful. Have a look at the artwork on the table. Loved it. The walls are adorned with a lot of Mexican stuff with one wall full of Mexican sauces. So far so good.
I went for the #wetburrito with grilled fish while my colleague opted for the Yucatan beef Enchiladas. The burrito came with some Mexican rice and salad.
Two key features of the food - huge portions and excellent plating. The food was inviting right from the time the plates were laid on the table. The grilled fish in the burrito was excellent and so were the enchiladas.
The place has the popular Pink Chihuahua cocktail bar downstairs and even has a late night menu serving till about 2:30 am.
For us it was an excellent lunch, which demanded a siesta immediately. Oh but for the perils of working 😜

I actually have dreams about the food at El Camion. Seriously, I have never had cravings for anything like I crave the nachos and wet burritos here. Not heard of wet burritos? They are like your usual flour tortilla wraps, complete with meaty filling, black beans and oozing sauce, but they're also smothered in a delicious enchilada sauce. When they arrive on the plate, they look absolutely HUGE and you'll wonder how you're going to finish them. Within twenty minutes your plate is scraped clean. And you'll think you can't fit anything else in, but then you'll order the churros and be transported to a hot sidewalk in Baja California, buying these hot donut-esque treats from a stall and dipping them into melted chocolate. Amazing.
But food isn't the only thing to come to El Camion for (even though that's what often draws me here). The cocktails are incredible. Often I'll start upstairs, drinking my go-to cocktail of a margarita (the Tommy's margarita is amazing), but also they make these things called Batidas which are like frozen alcoholic slushies with cachaca and condensed milk. Then if you fancy a more raucous night out head downstairs to the Pink Chihuahua basement bar (you can ask to become a member and fill out a form), then spend the evening necking Pink Chihuahua cocktails. Or just ask a member of the passionate bar team what you'd like and they'll whip you something up. A good night is definitely on the cards when it comes to El Camion.

Good service and food but nothing special in my opinion. The Casadilla was really tasty and I’d definitely get this with the grilled chicken option again. The iron steak burrito was average and quite messy to eat so wouldn’t go for that again. Otherwise an average 6/10

The atmosphere and decor is absolutely 10/10, a great little find and definitely worth the visit if you’re in soho. I wanted to make this review short and sweet but I feel that won’t do this place justice. First impressions another 10/10 and major props to the person who answers the phone on a Friday evening, because even though busy, the customer service and willingness to answer any questions we had was *chefs kiss* On arrival every thing hit, from the super friendly/charming bouncers to walking in and being greeted with smiles from the staff. Big shoutout to the manager because from our point of view, the staff seemed very happy to be there, which had an immediate roll on impact to us. Down to the food and drinks… Drinks 100000/10 - BEAUTIFUL tommys margaritas served here, defo recommend, really executed well Food 8.5/10 - All in all the food was amazing here, the salsa verde was outstanding very well made, just the right amount of coriander and lime, refreshing!!! Star pick - chicken wings, incredible. The only small thing would be the taco shells themselves could do with some work, maybe just that batch, not at all bad, just lacked a little flavour. Pork carnitas were unexpectedly dry, though the dish itself was well balanced the meat let it down. Quick shout out to our host, Imani (hoping that’s the correct spelling) she went above and beyond, top banter, super attentive and just cool af, couldn’t have asked for anything more. Overall - 10/10 fair play guys

Love them to the max. They deserve a even higher rate! I would rate 6 stars if I can! Nicest Mexican food, most friendly staff with the best atmosphere! Taco is highly recommended 🫶🏿

Alright for some moderately priced Mexican food. We asked for the food to be served as starters and then mains but it all came together. The pork Nacho’s were the winner of the day

We had the chicken and the black bean nachos to share. They were out of this world. Absolutely delicious, super special. I'd definitely go back for the nachos. My friend had the Chicken Quesadilla and loved it. I think we really chose the right dishes as they were scrumptious. We also had the Jalapeno cheese bites. They were nice but nothing to write home about. The sauces were absolutely delicious though. Really special. We had the churros between us for dessert and would recommend..they were hot, cinamony and crisp. To drink, I had a Margarita for £11. Was nice again, but not super special. They didn't have virgin cocktails as the menu states (had taken a friend who was pregnant). Service was good but could have been better. I think the restaurant was a bit busy to have a good amount of attention from the servers. But they were nice enough and very accommodating where they could be.

Happened across this place by chance while walking to Leicester Square and decided to pop in for lunch. So glad I did! The waitress was friendly, chill, and attentive, and the food was delicious - I had pork carnitas tacos and a bowl of nachos (they even let me take out the sour cream and guacamole, so keep in mind when looking at the photo that the nachos do normally have those too). Also, the grapefruit soda is divine, literally the best pink lemonade I have ever tasted. If you're into hot sauce, they have a whole wall of them to choose from! Great place, would definitely come again if I was in the area.

Booked in advance, just in case. Bouncy, fun atmosphere with attentive waiters. The venue is on ground floor and basement with vibrant, quirky decor and similar sounds. What the food lacks in size is made up for by the quality and flavour. Why eat more when you can eat better? The quesadillas were very yum and the beef burrito was fantastic - plenty of steak and fresh veg with rice and perfect seasoning, just a little bit spiky. We didn't go for any of the myriad of hot sauces available, others around us did and their reactions were favourable. Just a great place to enjoy something authentic. Will definitely return.

Such a cute originally mexican restaurant in the middle of Soho. We went there for lunch and ordered a few dishes to share. Everything was amazing, the prizes were fair and the staff was supernice! Looking forward to visit again!!!
