Delicious Caribbean food. I had the vegan Jah Love with medium spice and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Lots of flavours. Perfect portion size. Awesome, friendly staff. On the pricey side but everything is nowadays.

Perfect Caribbean place in London for people to try Caribbean food. I’ve seen the reviews of people saying it isn’t spicy enough, however I work for another Caribbean food company and my boss really wants to put Caribbean cuisine on the map and focus on flavour rather than spice. That’s why I love Rudies, it’s amazingly flavoured food and the portion sizes are big! Therefore I do really believe it is good value for money. I would without a doubt recommend Rudie’s to anyone, especially if they haven’t tried Caribbean food before.

If you’re in Shoreditch and you are craving authentic Jamaican food, then make sure you pass by Rudie’s. I have previously been to their Stoke Newington branch for Sunday roast, so I was prepared for the delicious treat that I was in for. Rudie’s Shoreditch still serves traditional Jamaican recipes but in a lunchbox style for diners that are on the go. With authentic Jamaican and Caribbean wall hangings and advertisements and a small seating area for those that wish to eat in. For my main, I chose jerk pork with rice and peas, which brought back childhood memories from travelling to Jamaican and eating from a local food hut. The jerk pork is cooked in the steel drum and seasoned with a sticky sweet jerk sauce with hints of spice that make the mouth water. The portion is average sized and is quite filling for the price. My guest chose curry goat, rice and peas and roti. I managed to get a few bites and was wishing that I chose the traditional dish as the curry goat tasted that good! The goat meat itself is chunky pieces of goat meat. I often feel, when you ordering curry goat you can get left with hardly any meat. The peppered prawns are a must have from the menu. Succulent in flavour with a kick of spice. The prawns are fresh, served with a spicy tomato sauce, avocado and chive trimmings. You can also add a variety of sides to bulk up your meal, we decided to add extra sweet potato fries and plantain. However, bear in mind that the food at Rudies in quite filling so don’t get too carried away ordering extra sides. To wash your meal down, Rudie’s serve a variety of Jamaican and Caribbean traditional drinks like Ting, Jamaican ginger beer, and their own punch. Their Blackwell rum punch as to be one of the best rum punches I’ve tasted! Sweet to the mouth with a Strong kick at the end- This is where the rum hits you! I would definitely recommend you trying out the rum punch. Overall I had a good time at Boxpark Shoreditch, so if you’re in the area and in need of food, and on the go, why not pop through and get your munch on! I can’t wait to revisit Rudie’s in the summer and let the sunshine on my face, whilst eating great food! Price: £ What to wear: Casual (I wore jeans and a bomber jacket, trainers) Ambience: Friendly staff with efficient service as the food is on the go.

I had the "Jerk it up" box - marinated jerk chicken with molasses sauce, and fried plantain. Chicken was very well made, and sooo juicy. Plantain was the perfect accompaniment. Freshly made and delicious! Also had a small pot of the "nuff scotch" sauce (not pictured). It wasn't as hot as I thought it might be, but it lingered a bit!

I, by no means, would be able to vouch for the authenticity of the food but I enjoyed it thoroughly for what it is. The jerk chicken was nice and tender when I had it; covered this thick savoury smoky rich sauce which really elevated the dish. It was great with a side of rice and beans. I do have to agree that the prices were on the more exorbitant side which limits my visits to lunch deal times.

Staying locally, this was the first I’ve heard of Rudie’s and it was a perfect pick for a quick dinner choice. I had saltfish fritters and Jah Love as my main dish with rum punch. Great food, chilled vibes topped with good service
