Read reviews after we ate and drank and are appalled by anything less than 5 stars. All other reviews less than 5 stars are rubbish! We went for dinner and drinks and were so satisfied. This is a typical corner pub conveniently located across from Victoria Station. We had our 16YO with us so we sat upstairs and ate in the dining room where you order/pay at the bar. We had bangers and mash, steak and ale pie, and the half chicken. All the food was exceptionally delicious and hot. Even the side dishes like carrots and the aioli and BBQ sauces with the chicken were amazing. Great place for some traditional dishes and burgers. The drink selections were quite satisfying for us; non-alcoholic and beer. The Imerial Stout was great. We would highly recommend the food and drink, and the servers/bar tenders were friendly and helpful.

Lovely food, we got Burger and Fish and Chips. Loved the Chips, I wish we had more of this style in the states. Burger could have been a little less done, as I prefer medium instead of well done.

This is a lovely ‘English’ pub…food is a reasonable price for London. Convenient for Victoria station & Apollo theatre. To eat you have to be seated upstairs - only drinks allowed downstairs & outside. Upstairs is beautiful - old bookcases & decor make it feel cosy. Fresh water is freely available. Food was good.

Had lunch enjoying a pint with fish n chips. The fish and mushy peas were well prepared. The atmosphere was great with the dark furnishings, paintings and wood paneling. My only issue was the service which I experienced as lax and unfriendly. I didn’t feel welcome or appreciated for ordering food and drink at the bar.

Nice traditional pub close to Victoria station. Bar snacks were tasty and good value for money. Good selection of beers. Decor and setting were lovely

Positive experience. I got bangers and mashed. I was impressed with the food presentation, as it was a casual atmosphere. It tasted great too. Pretty good selection of beer, but I had a cola this time.

I loved this pub! My favorite is the room that looks like a library. The service was good, it did take some time to get the food but overall it was ok. Close to theaters and Victoria station.

Stopped in for dinner on our way back to our hotel nearby. It was quite busy, being so close to Victoria Station and the theatres. We were able to get the last table in the dining room. Service was pretty good - they were quite busy when we were there, so not a lot of conversation with the staff but they were efficient. I had the fish and chips which was just OK. We had better at a few other places around town previously. Also seemed a little more expensive than other pubs we visited. If you're looking for a drink or a quick bite in the area, its a good spot but I wouldn't go out of my way to dine there again.

It was our favourite pub when we were in London. We had a hotel near the Victoria Station and needed not more than 10-15 minutes to the pub. The staff was very talkative, open😊 I can recommend beef lasagne with garlic bread, ate it at least two times - delicious

Well, look, I'm biased. The Duke of York is a Samuel Smith pub, so the beer is a cut above most establishment's. I drank the Extra Stout, about the closest thing to a Guinness you can get brewed in the UK. All hail Tadcaster! The pub is a well established fixture beside the Palace Theatre. I got there at curtain down time, so the place was busy, but not industrially so. Good service, knowledgeable about the beers, cheerful. Not much seating, although there was another room out the back I didn't venture into. Bare boards and no music. Conversation floated among the beer glasses. Very good.
