We went there for two days in a row because we liked it very much the first time. The second time was less satisfying. Most things that went wrong or were clumsily resolved can be put on the blond waitress we had the second day. We ordered tea with the teabag on the side. They forgot and put the teabag in the cup with boiled water. Nothing major, and they immediately offered us to make us a fresh cup. So well resolved, we would say. But the remark, made by the waitress, that her colleague didn't know (about the on forehand asked 'teabag on the side') and that the tea was not strong, was not the way to go. We ordered 'on the side'; It's your job to present it on the side. We can perfectly decide by ourselves if the tea is too strong or not.
Then our meal arrived. My friend ordered the Vegetarian with pancakes, and I ordered the Barbican with French toast. They delivered it the other way around. It's not a big issue, you would say. Just take the plates back, switch the pancake and the toast, and serve again. But that was way too complicated. The waitress had to remark that it was just a minor issue, that it wasn't a problem and kind of expected us to solve the problem. However, we waited for her to solve the issue. She then came with a clean, empty plate and cutlery to our table, switched the pancake and the toast via the empty plate, and kind of harshly installed it onto the correct plates. It was a pity to see a carefully arranged plate being disturbed like that.
The food was, again, very good. Taste wise, we didn't really like the pancake, but that's personal taste. The rest was very good!
If what happened the second day would have happened the first day, we wouldn't have come back. It is funny to see that a different waitress can make such a different experience. Please instruct your personnel on how to respond in situations where things go wrong. It's not the mistakes that count. It's the way you react to your mistakes.
Amazing breakfast top quality Ingredients very fresh and full of flavour.
Very clean and peaceful place to spend your mornings if you want to work on your laptop or read. The music is the best part love the type of music and not too loud.🤌
The staff is so polite and nice i asked them if they can make a larger size of Turkish coffee and they did it straight away 😊 definitely recommend!
Been in London almost a week, this is the place I think you should stop by and have a try. You won’t regret it. Fair price and high quality food. Everything like art, and super tasty.
Chanced upon this cafe near to where we stayed. Excellent food! Word of caution - serving size quite large. Two of us shared one black olive for breakfast - more than sufficient. ☺️

This cafe is always a go to spot for lunch! They have so much selection on their menu, the staff are always so nice and service is so quick!
The chicken caesar salad is amazing and definitely worth a try! The coffee is also brilliant - I highly recommend!
This restaurant gives off a very family-style bistro vibe which I love! Keeping in line with that, their portion sizes are enormous and you definitely get your money’s worth. I recommend their Turkish eggs, especially if you’re coming here for breakfast / brunch. They also have a good selection of refreshing smoothies.
Most café's and restaurants are closed on a Sunday in the Barbican area so I was pleased to find the Black Olive cafe open. I opted for a vegan breakfast, egg, beans, cherry tomatoes, veggie sausage, hash browns, Portobello mushroom with 2 slices of toast, a lot of food.
Breakfast was excellent and prices are very reasonable. Would definitely eat there again.
My second visit here and food was excellent,
Beautiful bistro situated a few minutes walk from Barbican station, with very attentive staff and tasty meals. The prices are reasonable and plates always full. Also, they serve 6 different delicious smoothies, a must have , and hot drinks from Coffee Bay range. Please try to visit and support them as often as possible. Bon appetite!
What an amazing find, the food was exceptional and staff welcoming. We could not have asked for a better place to celebrate our anniversary for brunch with family.
We came across this smart looking cafe by chance, before attending an appointment nearby. Ordered Turkish breakfast dish menemem, which was served with goats cheese, olives and warm Turkish bread. Absolutely delicious. Efficent service, friendly staff and fellow customers, highly recommended.
