Dixy Chicken Macclesfield

Hit and miss, but thankfully more hit than miss. Pretty good, decently sized chicken. Chips can be awful and reheated. Surprisingly their kebabs are pretty good, too. Affordable prices for a modern day takeaway and so far better than ‘The Colonel’ up the road based on the shoddy reviews KFC is getting since it opened. I’ve yet to try it but will stick with Dixy if it becomes more consistent.

I don't often write reviews, but felt compelled to do so today. I'd read some dodgy reviews of Dixy Macc, so didn't have high hopes when I ordered, but I fancied fried chicken and these guys were open. So very, very glad I did. Portion size is good and they pick good pieces of chicken, clearly fresh. It's really hard to get SF batter right, often places make it too thick and claggy and it doesn't cook right. Or too thin and large parts of the chicken are not covered, or (worst of all) overly seasoned to disguise cheap meat (think KFC). Dixy gets the batter absolutely spot on, perfect consistency, beautifully crispy and exquisitely seasoned. Food arrived piping hot and early. I ordered the gravy too and it tasted heavenly, making a certain Colonel's gravy look more like swamp muck and shame in a pot. Well Done guys!
