A tucked away gem of a place. The food was piping hot, and plenty of it. The chowder as a starter is one of the best for flavour I have had. Staff were really nice and friendly, and there is a lovely olde worlde ambience. Open fire was also a lovely touch. Simply - my wife and I found it a great place to go all round.

Excellent service and being celiac I was made very welcome with an excellent choice. Puddings were a wonderful surprise with multiple choices. Had a roast dinner and even my sage and onion was made personally for me .

Was made aware of the pub and it's good food reputation by a friend. We took the opportunity to drop by for lunch in the week and we're.not disappointed. Caesar Bacon and Chicken salad was very fresh, great tasting and a great sized portion. Beer garden had plenty of tables and service was excellent. We'll certainly be returning to try their evening meals!

The Sunday lunches are amazing. Very hot. Plenty of meat and veg. Best around. My only complaint is that the generous portion of meat is always slightly overcooked verging on slightly dry. Please just cut the cooking time down by 10 - 15 minutes then it would be perfection.

Wonderful old world pub. It's 400 years old, so has plenty of atmosphere. Staff are very friendly, and helpful. I can honestly say, that the food was amazing. You receive large helpings of everything, and there is enormous amount of choice. I had a turkey roast, and up came a dish of baked potatoes, and another with vegetables. I had lots of turkey, and a Yorkshire pudding to top it off. Then we had desert, and once again, there is a great choice of hot and cold deserts. I do not often rate five stars to any establishment, but this one deserves it, and more. Wish I had taken photos. Will do so next time.

Lovely food, very generous portions, staff were friendly, helpful and nice. Sunday roasts were beautiful, loads of veg, potatoes were perfect. Would definitely recommend. It wasn’t the quickest service for food but definitely worth the wait. We’d definitely come back 😁

This place is a gem. Staff are extremely friendly and kind. We felt like old friends at this place. The food comes out piping hot and absolutely delicious. When they say “be careful the plates are hot” they have taken extra care to ensure your plate stays hot for a long time so you can relax and enjoy your meal so DO NOT TOUCH THE PLATE The exterior is very family friendly and is a great set up for kids of all ages and their parents alike. This visit (our second of many) was a success for the entire family and not only were all the plates cleared but the kids were exhausted. We can’t wait to book again.
