My friend and I chose to eat at The Angel this weekend and what a great decision it was. The place is cosy with a nice atmosphere. We went upstairs to the restaurant and was greeted by the chef Charlie. What a top bloke he is. He took our order and went off to the kitchen.
Charlie's food was simply amazing, so tasty and a great portion size. I would recommend anyone to give this place a go. You won't be disappointed! Will definitely be going back in the future :)
The Angel...one of the only remaining great real Manchester pubs. Great ale, great food..the staff? Well In my opinion you won't find better! Friendly and real..The Angel is what it is. A real pub. I recommend!
Found this one by accident
On a tour of Manchester, found this one by accident. Proper boozer, cracking ales, 8 on offer when we visited. Well worth a visit if you like real ale.
Gives you wings. First review of any restraunt we have eaten in but feel that The Angel is more than worthy.Booked table for 4 with friends who had previously eaten here. Didnt think we were in the right place but dont let the decor put you off.Had a couple of excellent beers from a great range, girls had a bottle of house white, a £10 bargain. Went to table in upstairs restaurant which is quirky Lovely attentive staff,Brilliant starters Brilliant main courses and squeezed an excellent creme brulee in, more of the £10 wine.If you want granite, hardwood, uniforms, stuffy staff, and having your hat nailed on with production line food and wine/water, carry on playng safe at the footballers haunts. If you want excellent fresh food with great staff, good wine, in quirky surroundings, eat here asap.
We made the right decision of chosen this place for our brunch! We wanted to order so many menu but there’s only 2 of us.
Took a point out because I was expecting more from Aperol spritz. Maybe a nicer decoration like slice of fresh orange in it.
Overall was great 👍🏼
What a great visit i had good old traditional pub so nice to see some still around. Great selection of beers. And served by a lovely friendly young lady Ella happy to chat made us feel very welcome, and seemed like she actually wanted to be there which is refreshing for bar staff nowadays. Definatly worth a visit we will be back.
Great selection of real ales, lots of character. Also good spot for free on street parking after 6pm if you’re going to the arena
Somehow this old local has survived the massive redevelopment in this area of the Northern Quarter. It is a bit shabby and needs a sympathetic refurb but it is a haven for real ale and great cider. ( A Vimto flavoured 7.5%!) Has a friendly vibe and well worth a visit.
A really homely, friendly pub. A bit rough around the edges, but the beer and cider choice is excellent, the bar staff are really welcoming, and I'd gladly go back. Looks like a quiz on a Monday, and I assume other things too.
I go here quite often at lunch. Nice boozer although in need of a make over. Not sure how busy it gets in the evenings but it's one of those community haunts similar to the Britons Protection and Marble Arch. Part of the traditional Manchester pub scene. Has plenty of tasty rotating cask ale on with a sizable keg selection too (Beavertown gamma ray and neck oil etc etc). Worth a visit if you are nearby.
Cool little proper pub, it might look a bit rough from the outside. But the beer selection is top notch, great selection of cask and keg, cosy little pub.
Stumbled across this lovely little place. A massive area outside with clever use of barrels and planks to make a beer garden. Not the most attractive space, however, it was a nice visit and it is on our list to go back. It is such a tiny old place sitting in amongst the skyscraper hotels and office buildings. Lovely staff and a good drink.
One of the best pubs in Manchester. Great selection of beers and spirits, reasonable prices and a fantastic atmosphere. It also has one of the few actual beer gardens in the city centre.
First visit for 31 years, the place still has a cool vibe. Reasonably priced, smashing staff, only thing missing was the juke box which was class. Nice tunes playing anyway.
