Visited on a Monday night; plenty of staff who were friendly and efficient, and the food was really good with fair size portions that were filling. One of the best Chinese restaurants I have been to and would thoroughly recommend.
We came to see a performance of "From Shore To Shore". The evening was delightful. Soup was served, then we watched the performance followed by a buffet of 3 meat dishes, vegetable dish, noodles and rice. The food was delicious. The acting was brilliant. The staff were attentive and friendly. A great evening and good value.
Lots of vegetarian variety and very high quality.
And staff was very nice allowing us to stay even after our time had finished. We got to try lots of vegetarian dishes at affordable prices
Have always frequented here for a nice roast duck meal. This time I thought I'd try their wonton noodles for a change. Did not disappoint. Normally I won't recommend ordering anything other than roast duck or roast pork (char sui) dishes as this is what they do best. But if efficiency and superb service is what you're after then this is the place to be.
Been here many times, both for the buffet-all you can eat and also had ordered ala carte menu. The buffet is underground and there are many different dishes to try out. Ordered peking duck, lobsters, chilli prawns, kangkong from their ala carte menu. It was delicious.
Came highly recommended by a local. Visited the place for lunch on a Saturday. It looked empty and at 2.30pm; wondered if it was shut. I asked a man sitting at the enterance if it was open, and he said "of course; can't afford it otherwise". Well the place does not need a laughing Buddha when they have this person around.
Nice comfortable interiors - nothing spectacular but reminded me of eateries in Hong Kong and Shanghai. Dim Sum menu and regular alacarte handed over. Extensive choice. Communication with staff not bad at all and unlike many Chinese eateries friendly - ready to explain the dishes and how much to order.
Ordered 5 Dimsums (most have 3pcs); a main course - duck in black bean sauce; morning glory with garlic and egg fried rice.
The fried wantons were oily but crisp and great to taste - specially with the sweet pink sauce. The beef packet with ginger onion sauce nice. The prawn dumplings Suimai very nice. The steamed pork dumpling with nuts Ok. Star for us - the Tom Yum Wantons. Superb.
The mains did not disappoint either. Lunch for 4 with tea and service charge (no dessert or drinks) GBP 58. A bit pricey for lunch but extremely satisfying.
Word to the wise, whoever didn't like this place, must not be normal. This place is a great restuarant. A little bit of a language barrier, but incredible Chinese food.
I saw Ken Hom in here!. Arrived on Valentine's night without a reservation and they still managed to squeeze us in. Great food and it really was Ken Hom on the next table with a party of friends.
Yang YES. Good Manchester Chinese, probably doesnt deserve its destination title, there are others that are as good (Wings esp) would recommend though, never disappointed A deffo.
Best Customer Service. Been several times and yes, this is a high ticket restaurant, but the brilliant service and the food lets you know what you paid for.
If you're naturally indecisive they can ask a couple of quick questions about allergies and preferences and throw together a surprise buffet for you (minimum of two people). This gives you a culinery magical mystery tour which can't be beaten.
I've been there before and only had a table booked for 6 which became a table for 10 at the last minute and by adding a bigger tabletop they accomodated at the last minute.
If a friend tells them it's your birthday they'll even throw in a fruit salad and a custard tart with a candle in it, plus a token gift.
They will bend over backwards to make your night special.
Since they've redecorated it looks a little bit 80's retro downstairs (black shiny marble everywhere) but if you don't mind that it's a great atmosphere.
Decided to treat ourselves to the lobster banquet. Loads of great dishes in a relaxed atmosphere. Well worth it for a special occassion.
We have eaten here for years and, as my family is Chinese, our continued custom says a lot about it's level of authenticity. The place has become more upmarket and prices have gone with it, but the quality remains. Ask for their recommendation on dim sum for a real treat add always a surprise! The roast pork 'char sieu' is fantastic. Service is attentive and friendly.
Overall, the food is good but overpriced for the quality offered. Poor variety of drinks, no draft beer for example (maybe because of COVID?). The place needs an update in terms of decor (looks a bit decayed for my taste) but it's not that urgent. The atmosphere is chill and the staff was nice.
Beautiful dining experience! Prompt service, friendly staff and delicious food! 💯
I ordered the beef dumplings with spring onions as a starter and the jellyfish with dried shrimp and vegetables as a main. They didn't have dried shrimp so they very graciously surprised me with fresh fried shrimp.
The ambience is so perfect with the signature red decor and Chinese lanterns.
Not just great food, but fantastic service as well. We ordered for takeaway and they couldn't have been more accommodating. Sat and had a pint while we waited. They also helped us navigate the menu and answered all questions.
The chicken with cashews was excellent as was the egg fried rice. Also got adventurous and went for the ostrich rump. It was more rump tender than ostrich gamey and the satay sauce on the side made the whole dish.
Very good indeed. The interior decoration is relatively old, the taste of the dishes is not so heavy, but the taste is very good. The price is not high, but acceptable and the service is great. Will come again.
Finely prepared and tasty dishes, some with updated touches. Never had a dish with a cream sauce in Toronto or Guangzhou, but if I looked for it then I am sure I could find something similar. If it was all the same everywhere then what would be the point? Liked the decor and comfortable seating. Very helpful and pleasant staff. I would happily dine here again.
Love this place. Ordered Congee and variety of dim sum, really fresh! Staff were really attentive and helpful too. Will be returning next time I’m in Manchester!
Four of us went on Chinese New Year. The restaurant was packed but we got our drinks quickly and while there was quite a wait for food they kept our teapot consistently topped up. We hugely over ordered as the portion sizes are really generous - before you realize this it might look quite pricy, but realistically you only need to order one main per person and maybe a dim sum or two to share (these come in portions of three, which is a bit awkward for a group of four). The food was absolutely delicious, everything tasted so fresh, the sauces weren't at all "gloopy" and had great flavour. The waiting staff were also really courteous despite being rushed off their feet! We had a great time.
Very nice food. Staff very courteous. Menu too long though.
Ordered Szuan chilli chicken, sesame prawn toast, won ton soup, noodles. Delicious! Would go again.
Have been multiple times for dim sum (lots of small plates of dumplings and sides). I would recommend ordering a pot of tea which will be refilled with hot water by the staff whenever it's running low. If you are unsure what to order the staff can assist by recommending some dim sum which might suit you. Notably good dishes were: Sui mai, xaiolongbao, mini pork ribs. You can't go wrong and can enjoy lots of different things for a lunch meal and enjoy the various options. Prices are reasonable and expect to pay £15-20 per person for a selection of dishes and tea.
Ordered a takeaway, salt and chilli chicken, noodles, chicken curry and salt and chilli chips. Absolutely incredible. One of the best takeaways I've had. Would definitely order again
