First came here in the late 1970's. Always been a gem of a Marston's pub. Thus having a great pint of Pedigree. Famous for the lunchtime cheese and pate selection. In the old days the massive cheeses were displayed on the bar and cut to order. Carried in and out from upstairs every lunchtime. Doggie bags a must due to the amount of cheese, pate, bread and pickles. Despite a fire the pub is little changed.( The Music Hall posters did not survive.) Still do cheese but portioned. £7.50 for choice of three..cheese/pate, bread and pickles. Still great value. TV for sport. Lots of locals.
Brilliant staff, very welcoming. This is a great pub reminiscent of years gone by. Very friendly and community based. Could not recommend more!
Great traditional pub, great atmosphere, locals very friendly, good selection of beers, large interior,, helpful staff .one of the best pub's I've been in for a while.
My dog was nervous of going in on a Saturday night (busy, costumes, stags does etc) but the landlord came out and welcomed our beagle and gave us a drink, gratis, wow such nice people, favour will be returned 😃
A Great Traditional Non Pretentious Pub. Great Selection Of Beers & Lager. Friendly Bar Staff. Sit out on a lovely sunny Day and Enjoy a good Pint at a very reasonable price.
Proper friendly local. Landlord/Barman really friendly. Cheap well kept beers. Lots of screens for the footy. Very welcoming. I'll be back.
The food and drink were simply outstanding. I tried a few different dishes and everything was cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. The beer selection was impressive, with a wide range of local and international brews to choose from.
What really stood out to me, though, was the service. The staff went above and beyond to make sure I had a great time and that all my needs were taken care of. Their attention to detail and genuine care for their customers made the experience truly memorable.
Overall, I would highly recommend Royal Oak to anyone looking for a great meal, a great drink, and a great time. If you want to experience the best of English pub culture, then this is the place to be!
Great pub , with nice pint of pedigree bitter with a ploughmans lunch
Had a lovely afternoon in here on New year's day. The young man remembered our drinks ordered every time without being reminded, which was great service . I was in again on Wednesday for my friend's wake and my pint was on the bar before I had even asked! Fantastic customer service. We will be back.
Cheapest round on the entire didsbury dozen, great beer, great atmosphere. Loved the cheese also!
