Quick, friendly and attentive service. We had ham and cheese sandwiches which came with crisps (tortilla chips) and a salad garnish. Nice selection of cakes were on offer to. The tea room was very far from where we first saw the signs for it but worth the drive. Nice converted barn with oldy worldly furniture.

Pen Y Big / Pen Y Fan / Pen Y Scran - in that order 🤌🏼 Waltzed around the horseshoe trail from the Taf Fechan Forest car park (c. 11 miles), taking just over 3 hours. Completely drained and dreading the drive back through Merthyr for some scran until I remembered I went past the tea room 1000m before the car park. Boshhhh! Walked in, found a table and plumped for the Old Barn Special for £10. Changed the tea for coffee and inhaled it all within 7 minutes. Everyone who works there are happy and look like they throughly enjoy their lives. As I lashed on the jam on top of my scone all of my troubles were momentarily cured. The enchanting tunes and sound of tea cups clinking as merry Welsh ladies potter about… oh just take me back. Do not miss this place when you’re in town!

Popped by here after a long walk. Great to have this cafe in this area. Open Sat-Thurs (closed Fridays). Nice garden space and parking. We had a couple of the old barn specials. Nice sandwiches with a small salad, moist Welsh cake and delicious freshly baked scones. Great service from a young man and woman. I’ve never been to a cafe with more choice of hand soaps. Would be really happy to stop by here again.

Our group of six visited on a very wet Sunday afternoon. Between us, we ordered a wide range of items e.g. soup, sandwiches, beans on toast cakes and scones. Service was prompt and efficient and overall, the food was of good quality. I imagine it depends on personal taste, but the group's views of the homemade scones were mixed. Some thought they were just right whilst others thought they were a bit heavy/stodgy. Overall though, a pleasant experience.

Having diverted from our original route to visit the Old Barn, a few of the lads were complaining about the extra distance we were covering. Needless to say, it was well worth it with a great selection of food and drinks as well some great staff. Clean, welcoming and with plenty to choose from, you will most definitely enjoy refuelling here. Thanks for the experience

Absolutely amazing . One of the best tea rooms around. Lynda and her team work hard to be the best in the area and it shows. You won't find better

Came here after completing the Pen y Fan Horshoe hike, the start of which is at the Neuadd car park just 10min away from the tea room. Parking and outdoor seating is plentiful. I had the cream tea, and requested one of the scones to be swapped with a Welsh cake. Both are fabulous, particularly the scones. If the sun is out, definitely get a table outside.

A quiet haven. The Old Barn Tea Room offers a simple selection of soup and sandwiches. A very enticing selection of cakes to follow. There is plenty of seating inside and outside in the quiet gardens. The staff were extremely helpful and efficient. The sound of the steam train going past was lovely hark back to older times.

Lovely place with actual tea-room like tea room. The cups looks lovely and there is some music inside. Plenty of room outside, ice-cream, great looking sandwiches and inexpensive. Plenty of parking and if you hear the steam train whistle from the distance, thats a big plus.
