Loved The New Crown so much we came two nights in a row. The 1st night we had only just arrived in Merthyr Tydfil on a very busy Saturday night and didn't have a booking. The owner very kindly squeezed us in. It had a lovely buzzy atmosphere, the staff were friendly and efficient and the food was delicious and plentiful. The 2nd night was equally good. The chicken Espetada on the portugese part of the menu was really yummy and the Scampi was great too both with excellent chips. Desserts were great too.

Fab food and service, a really friendly place, and staff are so welcoming, clean, and spacious place to eat and relax, just what my friend and I were looking for, would 110% recommend and we will be going back very soon, thank you for the excellent food and welcome.

Great food and overall experience. I had the sausage mash, and it was one of the best meals I had in all my time in the UK. Really cool feel to the place - updated old pub. Bar is extensive, and the people were really nice. The food took a little longer than we would have liked, but it was a busy Sunday afternoon so we understand. All in all, highly recommend.

Decent food in here for sure. Our waiter was absolutely delightful. Really lovely guy. Unfortunately there was a kids party in the same room so it was a little busy & noisy.

Been here a few times now and good is always fab! Best of all they serve REAL chips here too. Fab prices, good value for money, great atmosphere and cab service. Will be back soon x

It was an absolutely wonderful experience to dine here. The food is incredible, the staffs are so warm & welcoming and the ambience is lovely.
Since the New Crown it's owned by a Portuguese family, the menu and food have a good Portuguese touch. They also have a lot of live music events and that adds to their popularity.
Just a reminder : while it is open till late, the kitchen closes by 9 pm. Also getting reservations is advisable.
