MY friends and I had a lovely time at the castle. Found it very interesting. The cafe staff were very friendly the food was very good. Enjoyed looking going round the gift shop. (Bought a few things) the gardens were stunning. Would highly recommend going.
What a lovely place! The grounds were just enchanting. The castle is the real thing and jam packed with important pieces of art and furnishings. All the rooms we visited were accented with fresh flowers. The whole experience was a true treat!
We bought entry tickets on the website ahead of time, but upon arrival discovered there were multiple buses arriving at the same time. We were encouraged to walk around the gardens before entering the castle itself, so as to avoid crowds and a long wait. The gardens were charming and interior interesting, but one star must be removed for the lack of a tour guide or big enough/informative plaques as you went along. Plants were also not marked clearly or at all. I’d recommend for a nice day, especially for anyone interested in the old lifestyle of the wealthy.
An absolutely amazing castle with a beautiful garden. We could not visit the castle as dogs are not allowed, so we only bought tickets for the gardens which are breathtaking. There are two gardens you can see and visit, both beautiful and there is a small woodland walk too. Must see!
Magical place, we were very lucky for the weather , so it makes visiting the garden even better. First of all just before entering the castle grounds there was a drummer and for little tip he plays you on his pipe and take a picture with you, absolutely amazing. By the wall where he stood was located caste gardens so u could hear him playing his pipe while wondering in the gardens. Caste was absolutely gorgeous inside . We head a really great day , there is little coffee restaurant and some shops with souvenirs
The castle is self guided and is filled with interesting items to peruse while touring. There were a LOT of crowds here, which kind of surprised me, as we had been at Brodie castle and it was not nearly as full of people. I think a lot of tours stop here, as people did arrive in large groups.
The grounds are lovely and well cared for. We visited in September and there were still plenty of flowers in bloom.
There was a bagpipe player on the grounds who was entertaining the crowds as they arrived.
This place is so beautiful and the story so interesting! It is the current home of the Earl's widow, Angelika, and everything is in place as when she lives there. She moves out for a few months of the year while the castle is open to the public. It was mind boggling to think we were climbing 600 year old stairs.
One thing to be aware of is during heavy tourist season there is a queue to get into the castle. We were advised by the guides to visit the gardens so let the queue get smaller but by the time we returned it was even longer. It is understandable why they limit the number of people in at one time but it is something to be aware of.
The gardens themselves are worth the trip and are incredibly beautiful. There is an audio tour that explains the rooms and some of the history. Well worth the trip.
Absolutely stunning place. We popped in the couple of shops and did the walk around the woods and it was so peaceful. We are hoping to go back and check out the actual castle next time!
This castle was absolutely stunning. You get an audio to go around the castle and the commentary of the guy was hilarious and made it interesting to learn about the history of the rooms. The gardens and maze was stunning very well kept. Plenty of parking and the staff were very welcoming. Me and my husband enjoyed it and would definitely come again to Cawdor castle 🥰xxx
Wonderful atmosphere. When we arrived there was a piper playing tunes, who was friendly and was very nice when taking a photo with.
I've been inside the castle twice, one time in 2022 and now in 2023. The castle is unchanging, which is positive. Nothing is dirty or dusty, standards are high. The audioguides are great and informative.
It takes around 30-55 minutes to get through the entire castle with audio guides.
There are 2 gift shops with similar products, which is nice. Gives you proper time to browse everything, as the store located in the exit of the castle is normally crowded.
Staff is super nice, politely telling you not to take pictures with flash and where to go. Also very nice in the shops located in the castle, will help you reach things off the shelves if you can't.
The most romantic location in Moray, with elegant touches and tasteful blending of antiques and modern treasures belonging to the family. Cosy cafe with excellent food. Exquisite gardens, just as romantic as the castle and with colour all year round.
What a beautiful place inside and out! Colorful and historical interior with lovingly manicured gardens surrounding the castle. There's everything to love about this castle! Be sure to explore the grounds. You can see a great deal in two hours but allowing for three hours would be best. A cafe is on-site with a wide variety of drinks and foods. Tasty! Don't forget to stop by the gift shop!
