Have been taking my granddaughter to The Little Artists Session for the past year. It's on every Monday morning, and Steph, the lady who runs the session is amazing as she has to think of different subjects every week! It starts off with a song to introduce your child to the others, followed by a trip around the gallery, then the children get to produce their own artwork, and there's a story to end. Places are limited, with a maximum of 15 children, so booking is a must! I can only go on my experience, but we love it! If you're looking for somewhere different, to take the kids, give it a go! Ticket price is £6.47 per child for an hour.

If you want to see some oil paintings in Newcastle, this gallery is your best choice. They have two free floors and all the artwork they have is something they usually don’t change but they are not too bad. They have one room on the top floor that has seasonal art exhibits but I heard they are not worth 7 pounds. I think it depends on the exhibition. The art shop is lovely but again their products are mostly generic, but some of the art books are very cool.

I visited the Gallery as part of the gala opening evening event of the annual conference of the British museum association 2023. I should have and probably will spend there more time. It's certainly worth that investment. What I mainly learned is the very basic concept of art and genres of the "North East." Honestly, I didn't have any idea such a thing exists! Why would I?! Also, it's a very rich and generous gallery, and it's free and in an impressive building in the city center. Enjoy!!

A lovely gallery to visit with great history of the shipyard area through an exhibition of black and white photography by Chris Killip. We also visited another 2 galleries of paintings which spanned several styles including artists from the Newlyn School. The gallery is close to the Library and free to visit; contributions welcome. My favourite was probably the work by Bloch on the first floor landing. There is a lovely gift shop and also a cafe. The staff were lovely and very helpful.

The gallery featured paintings created using various mediums (such as watercolour and oil). The paintings also provided an informative depiction of Newcastle through a historical perspective. The staff were also really friendly. I enjoyed my experience and would happily go again!

A nice, small Gallery just to drop in, a lot of interesting things about Newcastle, some rooms for free entrance. Kind and helpful staff in the gallery gift shop.

I loved the main galleries here today, quite a range of different types and styles of paintings. Free entrance, with expectation of donations (understandable really) and a good little cafe. Well worth a look!

Lovely art works. Only down side being lack of description/story behind the paintings, something which they have in the Manchester art gallery for example.

Small but impressive Art gallery, plenty to see with art from a variety of different movements on display. Occasionally they have an exhibition on, the most recent (spring 2023) was an Ancient Egyptian inspired exhibition but there are usually a few throughout the year. Some local histocial artist's work is on display including some paintings by John Martin who was a local.

This gallery is so rewarding for my time spent walking around Newcastle and Gateshead. It is good to visit on arrival to Newcastle, which offers an introduction to the city. It is very rewarding to visit after stroking around the town. I was so impressed with the art and the record and history of the development and changes of the city.
