If you are looking to eat authentic tasty Italian food then this is the perfect place. Marenghi's restaurant is one of those hidden gems in newport and once you've discovered it and tasted the food you will make sure you return. Me and my family booked a buffet for 12 of us on a Saturday night. They are only a small restaurant accommodating for about 40 people and usually don't stay open in the evenings unless you book otherwise, so we had the whole place to ourselves ! It was like we had our own private kitchen and mario and his staff made us feel very welcome and comfortable! I come from an Italian family and we were all brought up eating authentic Italian food making it always difficult to seek out Italian restaurants that we actually rate highly for its authenticity. Nothing beats Italian home cooking! But Merenghis Italian coffee shop was the first time we've all been super impressed. It was just like eating in a little family run restaurant in Italy. He served dishes that you don't even usually see in other Italian restaurants. Not fancy like you usually expect from Italian restaurants in this country but authentic, super tasty and true to the southern style of Italian cooking! You must try this place if you have a passion for Italian food.
This little coffee shop is a local gem ! My partner and I had a evening meal in Marenghi’s last night, the owner usually closes at 5 but he very kindly stayed open for us ! Mario was fantastic - I couldn’t decide what to have off the menu so he did me half of two dishes! What a lovely guy ! The food !! - wow , absolutely fantastic ! If you’re looking for some

Amazing service and food . Very reasonable priced and nice to see lots of gluten free choice. Highly recommended to go. I would ring to book a table. If you have special diet requirements they are very helpful.
Went for a meal with my wife, as we had a gift voucher, never been there before, but what a surprise, the setting created an Italian atmosphere and the food was superb, the taste, the freshness and nice and light! We had a couple of bottles of wine, which complimented the food. Desert was really nice, I had the Rhubarb cheesecake, very light! We had a chat with the owner/Chef after and it was obvious the passion he has for cooking and was very welcoming. Can't wait to go again!
Really nice homely place. Pasta was super silky and the service was great, the price is really reasonable for the quality too so would highly recommend
Fantastic food, wonderful ambiance, amazing customer service, and right on our doorstep! Definitely the best food we've had in a long time and we even picked up a couple of bottles of passata to take home. We'll definitely be back!

The best Italian food iv had in a long time. Quiet and intimate dinning so you could have a conversation. Food came out fast service was excellent food was amazing.

Just wonderful! What a find. Only wish I'd known about this brilliant little restaurant sooner. Lovely food, warm and welcoming, superb value for money. Can't wait to go back. Don't really want to tell you all in case it gets too booked up!
