Unbelievable food. My friend and I have had various Indian food in Newport the past few weeks and this certainly has been the best experience. The service was fantastic from understanding what we liked and recommending a dish. The service was not also rushed like we have previously experienced. The quality of curry was also outstanding. Can not recommend enough.
Anyone visiting Newport and likes Indian food must put this Restaurant on their "to do "list. The food is superb, and the Customer service is top rate. I thoroughly recommend this Restaurant to anyone
On visiting Wales, we decided to go in 'New Lahore'. It was Sunday night. There was another family eating there when we reached at 9.20 pm. Friendly staff and good service.
We started with spicy poppadoms and aloo chat. It was good. Aloo chat is a little different form what I have eaten. Here it's like they have given the aloo curry. For main course, we had Bengal chicken jhaal curry, dal makkhani with plain rice and stuffed kulcha. We enjoyed the food. We also had a lemonade and pint of beer.
We paid about £25 for this. Overall recommended if craving for Indian food near the Newport city centre.
So far the best Indian subcontinent food joint I’ve tried in Newport city. Very close to the city centre, this restaurant has a huge menu with plenty of options. They have a signature menu and drinks menu apart from the regular menu.
The restaurant has an amazing ambience as well, with a a very spacious dining area. The old person who’s the owner/ manager was very friendly and courteous.
We tried Veg Jalfrezi, Lahori Biriyani, Grill platter, Tikka starter, Paneer starter, Pappadam with chutney bowl and hot beverages. All the food we tried were amazing and worth the money.
The only negative id think of is that there are no chai/ desi drinks on their menu, apparently because they don’t sell much in this British dominated area. Also, it’s a Pakistani/ Bangladeshi restaurant but uses the tag Indian restaurant, which means it’s not an authentic Indian restaurant (although that isn’t much of a problem)
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ customer friendliness
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ food
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ambience
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ value for money
Verdict: An amazing choice for an Indian dinner.
Was here for a family dinner for 8. Mr Shah welcomed us and was so lovely. The food was fantastic - good portion size and very flavourful. I was even offered the special dansak sauce that they're famous for! It was a really special birthday night, thank you to everyone there!
Visited with a large group of friends. Our food was ordered in advance and was ready all at the same time, nice and hot. Vegetable jalfrezi was delicious (they checked it was dairy free for me). They also have a sign up saying to inform them of any food allergies/dietary requirements so they seem happy to accommodate this.
Service was fantastic and very friendly. The meal was for a friend leaving and they brought out a chocolate cake at the end which was a lovely touch. They were also very generous with the poppodoms and dips at the beginning of the meal.
The only reason I haven't given 5 stars is there was some confusion over the bill at the end because we all paid separately, some in cash, some on cards. It was just an error (something hadn't been written down I think?) and it was all resolved within a few minutes. I realise it can be a pain with a large group like that but this is really the only constructive feedback I can give for the staff to be aware of, everything else was good.
As well as our group, they were also serving others in the restaurant and people collecting takeaways.
Overall, a lovely night out, great food and service, I would definitely return. I thought the prices were also very competitive.

Great restaurant, amazing food! I’m sensitive to spice and I loved my dish (King Prawn Summerkand) and my partner got a spicy curry that he loved!! Appetizers were also delicious. 10/10 and wonderful staff too!

Great meal again tonight at the Lahore. So consistently good.
I've been eating here over 50 years and I know some have been coming here for longer than that.
The company was outstanding too 😉
Good meal - lamb tikka starter followed by chicken monipuri - which was very tasty. The decor is basic but good food and service excellent. Situated close to Newport Centre and not far from Friars Walk. On street parking is limited but large multi storey just across the road. Would definitely recommend a visit if you enjoy a good curry.
Oh. My. The best curry ever, the lovely, lovely staff are so knowledgeable and have a real passion for Indian food. My happy place! (I recommend the Pathia!)
Friendly staff. Great food and the best onion bhajii I've had in a long time. Really enjoyed it.
