The Red Lion

Tasty home cooked style food. Charming landlord and landlady, snug cosy environment. 5 star food hygiene rating. Not trendy or pretentious in anyway - just a great place to eat and drink.

There are not enough stars to explain how good the red lion actually is, so I'll take it from here. We arrived at the lion because another pub we normally go to is closed at the moment, and neither my partner and I had ever been here, so we walked in to a vibrant full village pub with not much room to move to be honest to be greeted by locals and staff alike. We were told there were no tables available but to hold on whilst they organised something for us to sit and eat. Once seated we were looked after by one of the waiting staff whose manner was exemplary (unfortunately I didn't get her name ) nothing was too much bother. The starters were amazing, tapas style and were very good portions and everything was cooked fresh and sauces and garnish all home made. The food from start to finish was top quality, more than just pub grub, like real love and thought had gone into the food and how it was presented. Mary the landlady and head chef came out and to do an additional checkback, which was also something not normally found in your local. We were then met by Mark the landlord who is as warm and welcoming as the real fire that was blazing away in the bar when we first arrived. I would thoroughly recommend anyone looking for value for money food would take a trip here as the experience the food and the beverage were exemplary 10 out of 5

Just dropped in sunday lunch yesterday. Have driven past hundreds of times. Welcomed by the proprietors, very friendly. New! 3 months owners. Very homely old fashioned Pub. The food cooked fresh, was absolutely delicious. Sunday roast, beef, pork + Turkey with 6 veg, Lovely! and separate menu. One small constructive criticism, hope you don't mind!! Veg slightly undercooked difficult to chew and digest, if an older person. But appart from that lovely. Keep up the standard! Highly recommend to all. Best luck. 🥂

Had a wonderful meal, such a friendly atmosphere the staff are the most helpful and lovely people, the food is cooked fresh and to perfection,they have a tapas bar in the adjacent room its lovely can't rate the pub highly enough.

First time customers here and not disappointed. Lovely Sunday roast and other half had the fish and chips which he said was amazing. We will be returning.
