A rare breed in this day and age...a department store that still manages to attract customers. Very busy on both floors when we visited. Very impressed with the attractive displays and uncluttered well lit floor plan. There were plenty of seats for tired husbands to sit on and friendly helpful staff. Lots of quality brands to choose from. A delightful shop and always pop in when visiting Northallerton.

Barkers is a lovely department store in the centre of Northallerton in North Yorkshire. The store is very well laid out with many high end brands including Boss to name ome. All.the staff I have interacted with are fantastic. The store also offers a loyalty card. There is an excellent instore restaurant I would recommend. Also visit the Barkers Furniture store which is superb.

High end family department store split over 2 levels. Front ground floor comprising of cards and plush toys, beauty and perfumes, ladies jewellery, scarves etc. Middle ground comprising of ladies handbags, ladies and gents shoes trainers and boots. Rear ground floor comprising of menswear and kitchenware including some ornaments, scented candles etc. Upper floor comprises of ladies clothing, large cafe, bistro and children's clothing. This store has a huge range of items with amazing bargains to be found in the sales! There is also a separate homestore close by stocking beds, sofas, lighting, kitchenware and soft furnishings. It is a very special store

What a joy to visit, we popped in for a morning treat, and that's exactly what we got! From the cheerful greeting when we entered, this was a really vibrant, clean, happy environment. The menu had a good variety of breakfast/morning fayre, along with the luscious cakes and treats on display when you walk in the door. We had bacon and egg in white and tea. Along with a very smooth cappuccino with soya and cinnamon sprinkled on. They had an instant recognition when I said non-dairy so offered cinnamon on the cappuccino instead, along with Oat or Soya alternative milk. We were so impressed we came back before we went home but went to the first floor where they served hot food. We didn't try any on this occasion, however it looked mighty good and was reasonably priced. The staff all so helpful. On this occasion we had apple and sultana cake, San pellegrino lemon, diet coke and a very bold Java served in a cafetiere. Seating very clean and cafe very airy and inviting. We can't wait to return. We really enjoyed this visit! Thank you!
