8 of us sat down for a birthday meal. Benefited from the 20% discount which was a bonus. Had got to clear the table in 2 hours as had another booking for it but did not feel rushed at all. Staff were very attentive. Lamb Biryani one of the best Indian meals I have eaten. This place is really worthy of its reputation.

One the best Indian restaurant I have visited, food is fantastic, great taste and presentation, I used to be in Nottingham every Monday, and always were looking forward to have my dinner there , it is also a great atmosphere, thanks to Barry and your team , I am looking forward to to go to Nottingham again just to eat at Calcutta club .

I have been to many Indian restaurants all over the country. Hoping to get 20% off as advertised but didn’t read small print, you have to have a starter. The main course was a bit slim on the chicken, not much at all. There’s 5 restaurants on Maid Marion way, time to try another. So no starter poppadoms and pickles with 1 rice 1 nan 2 mains 1 drink £50 never again.

Visited this restaurant with some colleagues, one of whom had been before and recommended it. Warm greeting on arrival, with an offer to take our coats etc. We were seated quickly. Crisp and perfect Indian lager (and I am not a lager fan) whilst we chose our dishes. We shared a chicken starter and a veg starter between the three of us, and it was fantastic, especially the chickpeas - so many layers of flavour. We had ordered the goat curry, madras style, and again it was delicious. Perfect moist fluffy peshwari naan. We shared a bottle of Chenin Blanc which went beautifully with the meal. Our waitress Zara was an absolute delight, taking a real interest in us, talking to us about the food, and really looking after us. Yes, this is more expensive than the "average" Indian restaurant, but the food and service is much better than the "average" Indian restaurant. Will definitely be going back. Thanks to the great team (and Zara again!)

Was visiting with work from London and heard that this Indian restaurant in Nottingham was good. I was disappointed, food didn’t taste that great. Had the lamb rogan josh and was disappointed, quality of curry is much better in London. I Felt the quality was more like a takeaway rather than restaurant quality. We were also really pushed by staff to take a starter to ‘ benefit ‘ from the 20%. We declined as we didn’t feel the need for starters. Would have appreciated if they were not so pushy.

The atmosphere in the restaurant was relaxing and we had a great family meal. The service was excellent. The food was out of this world, real lovely taste of India. Recommend this restuarant to all indian food lovers.

Visiting for the early bird offer. 20% off a starter and main before 6:15PM. King Prawn Purée to start (perfection personified) followed by the South Indian Seafood Biriyani (wow) and Chicken Karahi (my favourite) with nan bread and Lemon and Coriander Rice. Really fresh flavourful food, Wonderful atmosphere and genuine friendly service. If you haven’t been you must give it a try.you won’t be disappointed. And voted best Indian in Nottingham 2019.

Visited the Calcutta club with some colleagues following a meeting in Nottingham, opted for an early bird table as we had a train to catch. All of our food was cooked to perfection, the special I had previously wasn’t on the menu but this wasn’t a problem as nothing is ever too much. Service, quality and value on point as ever.

Dansak came out very dry and not enjoyable. However the interior was lovely and staff were excellent, didn’t complain about the dansak to avoid confrontation. The prawn starter was amazing.

So after going to it’s sister restaurant a few doors down I thought I would try Calcutta club and I was not disappointed. Was greeted by front of house staff and asked if I would like my coat hung. for my starter I went for the chicken plater which was a selection of three chicken starters which were on the menu and I have to say it was cooked to perfection. my wife always goes for the veggie options and she had the veggie platter again not greasy at all really well cooked. For mains I had the lamb Nihari I highly recommended it, the lamb was slow cooked and broke off with my fork it was amazing and my wife went for the Tandoori Paneer Shashlic This place I have to admit is on the same level as their sister restaurant. I can see why they won best curry house in the midlands it was out of this world can’t wait to go back

So I spent a Friday night in Calcutta club with a few friends from uni, and what can I say defo the best place for good quality Punjabi food , you can tell everything was made from scratch and it’s not like your local Indian where tubs of sauces are used, the atmosphere was great not too loud but busy which I liked , suraj was my waiter and gave his opinion on what was nice from the menu, which he gave me more than a few options to choose from, it wasn’t cold or too warm (I hate cold restaurants ) Defo will go back and imo as a curry lover this is defo the best place in notts for a quality curry !!

Heard many good things about this place, pretty much the same as I have about the place next door - Mem Saab. Both are reportedly slightly expensive, but the quality is supposed to be first class. I can’t comment on the establishment next door, as I’ve never been. I was really looking forward to attending a meal here with friends last Saturday, but I have to say for all the praise this place gets, I wasn’t impressed. We all arrived just before our scheduled 7.30pm booking, but were told our table would be 10-15 minutes - not the best start. We repeatedly had items we hadn’t ordered brought to our table. They also gave me the wrong rice, but after waiting an age to be seated & fir our orders - I just accepted it. The food (imho) really wasn’t anything special, it was in fact pretty bland. I ordered a hot chicken curry - but I’d call it mild/medium at best. They did however serve the best garlic naan I’ve ever had though. It wasn’t a bad experience, it just wasn’t as good as I expected - especially with the higher than average pricing. I wouldn’t go back, I’ve had much better around the corner at the much better (& cheaper) Laguna.

My friend and I visited the restaurant as I had seen many posts on Facebook about this place. Being an Indian myself I wanted to see what it was all about. I found the food lacking any spice at all. I had to ask the waiter to send back my paneer dish as it didn't taste of anything but raw peppers and paneer. They took the dish away and added some spice but I didn't enjoy it. My friend did however enjoyed his chicken dish, although he likes bland food anyway. We ordered 1 starter, 2 sides, 1 main, 2 lots of naan bread, rice and a bottle of water. I was a bit shocked when the bill came to £55 as it was only 2 of us. I didn't think it was value for money to be fair and some dishes are over priced. The service was fine and the staff were very friendly. There were a lot of waiters just standing around. It kind of puts you off if they are all just watching you eat. If you like bland food, this might be the place for you. The restruanat seems more catered for non Asian people who want a bland Indian food experience. I've tasted better Indian food for a decent price.

Booked in for our squash night out. Must say food was top notch but as I was peeing a waiter came our the cubicle and didn't wash his hands. Young man in late 20s maybe with short beard. Didnt spoil the night though as when he brought my beer I took it off the tray myself as opposed to just him handle the glass. Have a word with your staff please about basic food hygiene as food is superb.

Simply impressed by the courtesy I had extended to me on a damp dark Sunday. I was in the area on business and as a single lone female I was mindful of some where to feel save etc. I therefore ordered to takeaway. Which was delicious but it was the kindness and the courtesy that made this restaurant special

I posted a review a while ago asking if the place was going downhill (after my first review which was 5 stars), John called shortly after, we had a chat and John took note of the points I mentioned. Clearly it was an 'off day' as we went back recently again and the food and service were back to excellent. Not much else to say really except 'Thanks John' for being so diligent & see you soon!

We were in the restaurant for 4 hours, the food was delicious and the service top class. We wer the last ones in there but they didn't rush us to leave.

We went for the first time for some food after the theatre. The food is fantastic and service and friendliness matches it. A place to savour with family and friends. Possibly not the place if you are looking for a late night curry after many alcoholic drinks. Many not be the cheapest but beautiful food and experience, will return again.
