Fab cosy pub. We had our family Sunday lunch yesterday. Friendly efficient service. Catered for vegetarians on the Sunday lunch menu, with a tasty veggie Wellington -which is always a big thumbs up. (Omitting the meat always makes me feel a little ripped off)
Dog friendly in the bar area and happily catered for 8 of us in there so I could bring him along!
Highly recommend! I'll be back at Christmas when I'm home from York.
The Sunday roast baguettes are superb. Service is efficient, staff are very friendly. Always finish our cockapoo group walks here. They are unfazed by just how many cockapoo’s and their owners can squeeze into the bar when it starts to rain, and still leave room for other customers. If you read this post make a point of visiting it is a great pub, either on good weather or bad weather.
Thought we would give it a try and turned out it was there first night of reopening. Excellent food and quick service considering it was packed. Servers could be more knowledgeable but hey it was first night. Great atmosphere will definitely be back. Beer gardens and play area look great for summer visits.
Called in for lunch on Thursday. Was aware there were new owners so thought we'd give it a try. We weren't disappointed. The food was excellent and so was the friendly service. I loved the menu which had just enough choice. I had the liver which was delicious and my wife tried the hot beef crusty ciabatta which she also enjoyed. Will definitely be returning.
My partner and I decided to pop in for a date night on the recommendation from a couple.of friends.
The place has a lovely cosy welcoming ambience and we were greeted warmly by the staff on arrival.
We were shown to our table and our drinks order was taken straight away.we opted for a starter each and decided on the 2 steaks for £35 and a bottle of wine for £15.
Apart from my chicken goujon starter, which disappointingly was overcooked, dry and tough, the mains were outstanding (we both had the 10oz sirloin with peppercorn sauce).
The staff were attentive and pleasant throughout (sorry I didn't catch any of your names).
We'd definitely return to this quaint cosy pub again, but I'd perhaps try a different starter next time.
Went out for a meal and my first visit. Ample free parking and a great garden to sit in with lots of space and play area for kids. Sun was out all evening which was nice.
Visited on a Tuesday steak night which was great value. I had a mixed grill and prawns to start. Service and food were excellent. Definitely worth a trip out for food or a drink in the sunshine.
Came in with 3 others, ordered 3 lamb dinners and a lamb and pork roast. Food was brought out and to my pleasant surprise, our 3 lamb dinners had the extra of an assortment of meat; however, we just ordered lamb. The food was amazing, but the one thing that let it down was staff on their phones constantly and upon my visit to the toilet, following suit to the assortment of meats, I was greeted with what only I could describe as a Picasso painting, tissue on the walls, cobwebs hanging and two toilet roll rubes behind the cubicle door with some interesting art work on, that has been for as long I've frequented which has now been 3 months.
Overall, food was excellent, drinks were reasonably priced, but the cleanliness let it down.
Nice cool place. Relax and eat.reasonable price . Children play area.
Me and my family had Sunday lunch on the 28/5/23 and would like to say a massive thank you to the fantastic staff that went the extra mile for us. My nearly 8 week old baby woke up for his feed as the dinners arrived and the lovely waitress without being asked offered to put my food under the warmer for me, when the baby was settled with his bottle the waitress brought my food back out with fresh hot veg and gravy for me. As new mum i rarely get the opportunity to eat a hot meal and this is actually the second time I’ve visited and he has woke up as the dinners have come and the little touch of the hot veg and gravy was so thoughtful. Thank you again to the ladies looking after our table!
Went as was in area visiting family....heard good things from reviews from brother in law....had the jurassic steak....was really good...but more on well done side than medium as requested but to be honest ...was dam tasty...was accommodated by staff from miscommunication regarding the menu ....Will come back....5 star on next visit perhaps ✨️ 😉
Lovely staff, be even better when they find a new chef will be back for food then
We visited for the first time for a superb Sunday roast lunch and left feeling totally satisfied. The serving was more than adequate with an array of vegetables presented in a separate bowl so you could top if required.
The Light Brigade beer was excellent, as was the service provided by the mainly young and cheerful staff.
In all a great experience and highly recommended.
