Impasto

The place is OK. The quality of the ingredients is pretty good. The main misunderstanding is that this is NOT an Italian restaurant. This is a middle eastern restaurant that attempts to do some Italian inspired food but ends up proposing some odd fusion combinations, e.g. pizza with halloumi cheese. I took a mushroom risotto. I must say the taste was overall good and the mushroom sauce was well made. It was not a risotto though. The rice felt pre-cooked/boiled and was indeed overcooked for being a risotto. There were fundamental cooking mistakes in the preparation. The garlic bread was very close to a Kurdish cheese naan. In conclusion, the food is edible and the service attentive. However, if you expect Italian food that's not the place to go!

We were very disappointed with Impasto. We wanted an Italian meal for lunch, and the website looked promising. But there was nothing truly Italian on the menu on the table - simply 'all-day breakfast' and variations. We were not greeted as we entered, just vaguely indicated to find a table. We cannot comment on the quality of the food as we left after waiting for 10 minutes for someone to come and take an order for our food. And no-one commented as we trooped out.

We dined here for the first time this evening as we had a Groupon voucher. There was a limited menu to choose from, but that was presumably just for the voucher. A nice touch was that the pasta and pizza offerings could be chosen either as a starter or main course. The food was tasty and nicely cooked. Our waiter was friendly and attentive.
