We had a rib eye steak, onion rings, proper home made coleslaw with home made Mayo and a ton of chunky chips! And gammon egg and a ton of chips. All home made. Excellent. We like real ale and there was no selection just one on the hand pump. The staff were friendly and helpful with my Lacto intolerance.

A year later and the Red Lion has become The Coachhouse (it used to be one) after an extensive refurb which finally means the look matches the people and quality. Regency green and new comfy chairs, gorgeous details and the menu IS THE SAME! *confetti and trumpets* Which is to say the best chips in britain (fight me!), perfectly cooked soul-warming british fayre. If you are on the fence know this: if I didn't have an immune deficiency I'd have hugged the landlords when i saw them! I missed this place. I feel safe and welcomed here despite having zero social skills. The food is one of the few things i can fight my agoraphobia for! Please, trust me, if a broken shell of a human can be this enthusiastic there has to be something in it, right? Try the chicken filet sandwichy burger... you won't regret it! *** Best chips in oswestry, best egg mayo sandwich and chicken burger in britain! and most importantly the loveliest, kindest hostess and friendliest staff ever! so kind and understanding of mental health issues and neurodiversity (i'm autistic, hence only being able to comment on two meal options!) you won't regret going!

The Red Lion Inn commonly known as the top red is a popular venue for locals especially on market days, the clientele on a Wednesday are usually of an older generation. The farmers from surrounding villages can be found in the top red discussing current farming affairs & the price of a good effervescent to story's of years gone by. The Top Red also attracts the younger end of the Town, out for fun, it's a well kept clean public house that do good home cooked meals with ingredients bught on the door step in the market, Top Red as my thumbs up....
