Popped in on a day trip to Oxford, nice pub with a great atmosphere, lovely polite welcoming staff and chef, Great food and drinks, beautiful surrounding area of Osney Island, a must visit if your in Oxford
Just tried the Sunday roast in this lovely pub. Superb! Excellent food beautifully cooked, Both the meat and veggie options. The beer is very well kept too. Staff friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.
PS they also cook an excellent pizza!
Good food. We had pizza and mac and cheese. It was great. Portion size was also quite good. Mac and cheese is recommended. Nice ambience. Though backyard could be more fun but not bad for a sunny day.
Real pizzas - better than retail ones. Aways busy at the bar - need to attract one more staff member. Great atmosphere - better than eating in a bedsit. A great local pub and very near the train station. Worth the walk.
Situated on the Osney Island in Oxford, it's one of the two pubs for the islanders. In addition to being a warm, cozy and lovely public place, it also hosts Pub Quiz on Wednesdays; has a fantastic Sunday lunch menu and a pizza menu (2 for 1) on Mondays. They have a good selection of pizzas, including vegan options. On Mondays, you can enjoy two delicious and fresh pizzas for just £ 10. There is seating area in the open (small) as well as inside.
Few cons : service is slightly slow (waiting times tend to be longer than the expected time shown at the time of ordering) and drinks are a bit expensive (can understand that !)
Amazingly I've never been inside this pub but have literally walked past a 1000 times! Not today. Popped in for a pint a and look around, drawn in by the Secret Garden sign. So this is a drink and ambience review as we didn't eat. It's deceptively spacious inside and pleasant. There is a small garden with lots of suns shades and seating. We sat inside by the large open doors. Food is by a Pizza oven but we didn't see any as it was quiet. Maybe we will come back and try one out. Two for one on Mondays......!
For someone living close here, it's great to have some pizza or a drink.
Staff are nice, atmosphere is great and the food is really good.
I would highly recommend.
Bustling and interesting with a large collection of eclectic stalls and eateries. "Something for everyone" even a husband creche so ladies can drop their bored and surly men for a well deserved drink whilst they get on with the primal need of shopping 😀
Great beer, awesome pizza (from an in house pizza oven). Friendly service even at busy times. Loved it.
Stopped by for dinner one night during a short trip to Oxford. Great atmosphere. Best mac and cheese I've ever had.
