The Cafe At Oxford Greens

Perhaps the most rude and unhelpful staff I have ever encountered at at golf facility. We booked a tee time for Sunday August 2nd and unfortunately it started to rain. The person in the pro shop said there would be rain checks available. We played 6 holes and then it began to rain heavily so we went back and then were told we would have to contact Golfnow which is the on-line tee time booking agency. Also, there were not enough golf carts so we had to wait another 20 minutes after our original tee time to play. I contacted Golfnow and they said they would call the golf pro shop to confirm that it was raining . The next day on August 3rd I was told that everything was set and we would get a prorated 12 hole discount since we only played 6 holes and that we could book another tee time at another date with the 12/18 discount or 66%. I was told all this information was at the pro shop for when I would rebook a tee time. Low and behold I was told today that they would not honor this and they all acted as if they knew nothing about this. Pro shop blamed Golfnow and Golf now blames pro shop. And a supervisor from Golfnow was to call me back and never did. I have documentation and email from Golfnow about this refund. A lot of aggravation from very rude staff. Looks like we had the same issue as previous post by Vas Chiacu who was refused a rain check a month ago.

Greens were heavily dimpled with ball marks but very fast and playable, tee boxes were beat up but acceptable, and course layout was exceptional. However, we had whay was most unacceptable in front of us six players - 20 y/old's taking advantage and not caring about anybody but themselves playing together as seen in the photo. No ranger! No good! Several groups behind us drove in and gave up. My group only played 16 holes and gave up.

The course is five stars no doubt. Only 3 because it took over 5 hours to play a round. There was a ranger coming around cracking jokes but didn’t do anything to speed up play. The grill wasn’t open at the turn which was disappointing and the beer options on the cart were terrrible. I’ll return next spring because of the nice course. I’ll bring food and beer with me next time.

PACE OF PLAY WAS EXCRUCIATING !!! We were about to tee off when we noticed the starter letting a group of 6 off at the same time. Our group and the group in front of us confronted the starter. The starter stated they were playing best ball and it was OK'd by the office. Turned out not to be true.. The Starter was oblivious, didn't care , or couldn't comprehend the easily foreseeable issues ahead. We get to the 2nd hole Par 3. The group of 6 were on the green taking their time. (Clearly not best ball) The group in front of us waiting to tee off. Our group and the foursome behind us caught up as well. 18 Golfers on the 2nd Hole. What a mess. We call the clubhouse as this is not a great way to start your Sunday round. If it wasn't a 45 min ride to get there we would of demanded our money back and left then. After multiple calls to the clubhouse as we were averaging 25 mins per hole we were on our way to a 7.5 Hour round they advised they were sending a manager out. Needless to say that accomplished nothing. This course used to be one of the top public courses in CT. Save your $$$. The staff act as if you are bothering them when asking for common courtesy's. Really poor management. No Rangers 6 hour plus round... Unacceptable... Its really a shame as this used to be a great place to go. This %1000 could of been avoided if they had common sense and an ounce of common courtesy

Good course but many holes slope quite a bit and what looks like a good drive ends up in the rough. Some traps have big ole rocks, 2019, in them and aren't dressed. Update: played 9/20 and bunkers in much better condition. Person in pro shop needs to work behind the scenes or up his welcoming skills. Course never seems to have a starter and causes confusion. Rangers would've helped speed things up. Layout of course is great.
