Perfect place to end a pentland hike. This place could probably get away with charging £6+ for a pint but its actually reasonably priced (about a fiver if i recall).
They do food also and whilst I havent tried it - it looked very tasty.
Hiker/dog friendly - great place to take off your boots and sit near a real fireplace after a long walk.
It was our second time visiting the pub/ restaurant. Once again the couple running the pub were welcoming and very friendly. The food was delicious. I would highly recommend stopping by for some food. Especially on a cold day as the log fire is always burning and welcoming.
Lovely friendly atmosphere, excellent food, I had the hunters chicken stuffed with haggis and the noodle soup, both were delicious. I can’t wait to go back for more! Well done to the chef and the staff on the overall experience, it’s going to be a hard one to beat!
I recently visited the Flotterstone Inn after a day of hiking in the Pentland Hills, and I have to say that it was the perfect end to a great day. The pub itself was very traditional, with a wood-burning fire that added to the cozy and inviting atmosphere. The warm smell of the fire filled the air, creating a very comfortable ambiance.
The bar staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, making me feel right at home as soon as I walked in the door. They were knowledgeable about the menu and made some great recommendations for me to try.
The highlight of the visit was definitely the food. It was absolutely fantastic and everything we tried was cooked to perfection. The portions were generous and the quality of the ingredients was top-notch. The pub is clearly dedicated to sourcing local produce, and it really shows in the flavor and quality of the food.
Overall, the Flotterstone Inn is a great place to visit for food and drink after a climb of the Pentland Hills. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and the food is simply outstanding. I would highly recommend this pub to anyone looking for a great meal in a traditional Scottish setting.
Friendly staff Great meal loved the cheese and bacon burger was really good great location for a walk and dog friendly
Friendly and welcoming and with excellent food, a bit quiet when we were there.
Fantastic place. Stopped here for a pint after our hike. Staff were friendly, venue was fantastic had a fireplace going which made it extremely cozy. I'd definitely recommend going here!
Nice little pub with a sizeable beer garden right next to the Flotterstone visitors center. Went for lunch to get a more substantial meal than the cafe in the park and was thoroughly pleased with our toasties and baked potato. Dog and kid friendly as well and you can walk from the visitor center car park though they have their own car park too.
Great place to fill up after a Pentlands walk, good pub grub and warm atmosphere on every visit. Fish and chips delivered exactly what was needed. Child and particularly dog friendly for those walking with pooches
The flotterstone is a lovely restaurant located at the start of the Pentland Hills national park. The atmosphere is cosy and the building itself has a lot of character and traditional features.
The food and service were really good, the cost is probably in the middle zone but it is definitely worth it.
This would be a perfect pit stop before or after you have been on an adventure through the hills.
