The Courtyard Bar And Restaurant

Update 27th July 2023 - I understand that they are reopening in the next few weeks with an new management team focused on a more Bistro Style offering. I've tried some secret samples from the new Chef who is a real Kitchen God. They were varied, and tasty! On December 5th 2022 I popped in for a drink to check out this interesting new eatery and was very impressed with it all. It has a fantastic laid back ambiance and I will be returning later in December for a Meal with my Nearest and Dearest as the food I saw being served looked mouth watering. Today I went back for a Meal as I was tempted by the food and couldn't wait any longer to try it. I started with the Carrot and Honey Soup which was a lovely balance of slightly spicy and sweet without being overpowering either way; a difficult balance to achieve, my compliments to the skill of the Chefs This was followed by a Pasta Dish - Chicken and Pesto Pappardelle (done al dente). This came as a good large portion and was creamy and flavourful. I had this with sweet potato fries which unusually did not require any extra seasoning, they were just right. The fries defeated me, so I took them home to have for breakfast the next day so that I had room for a pudding. Pudding was a nice light and sharp Lemon sorbet. I so many other places they are either too soft, or like crushed ice with Lemon Flavour. This one was smooth and the right side of firm without being hard. I finished off with an Americano which had good Crema and was served in a nice big cup/mug. Outside they have a lovely courtyard which is currently decorated for Christmas and has some beautiful patio burners. As you would expect for a new Restaurant, it is a little quieter, so Id advise you to get a booking in as soon as you can before it becomes too hard to get a table. I heartily recommend this place for laid back comfy dining with good company, who I will be returning with soon :-)

Lovely cosy restaurant that we have visited regularly since opening. A great team that always look after your on your visit. Sad to see on this particular visit a table that was purposely being difficult but the team handled it so well as I may have not been able to do so!!! Hats off to you all. First time having the Sunday Roast dinner and it was just delicious! We will continue to keep coming back :)

Fantastic restaurant decorated to the highest standard. There is an amazing choice of vegetarian, meat & fish dishes. The puddings were delicious too. We went for a night out with friends but it would be excellent for a group/party or just a quiet meal as a couple. The covered Courtyard has gas burners & regular live music evenings. Highly recommended, we will return very soon.

Exquisite food in a superb setting that's ideal for everything from a business meeting to a special occasion or a relaxed lunch with friends, this is a new treasure to discover in Staffordshire. The staff were also outstanding. If you're looking for a memorable place to grab some quality food that's worth talking about make a visit a priority.

Whilst Penkridge has expanded dramatically in recent years good places to eat has certainly not kept place so it was with great interest we visited The Courtyard last Thursday. The reviews we had read were complementary and our experience was in line with what others had written. The restaurant has a relaxed and intimate feel, the staff were very attentive and professional and the menu had plenty of variety. We were very impressed and will certainly be back.

Well what can I say . First time dinning at the restaurant. we were greeted by friendly staff who took our coats when we first arrived. We were then shown to our table by the friendly waitress who couldn't do enough for us . The food was amazing from starters through to deserts. So well done to the chefs . And as for the restaurant itself it's stunning. The staff are so friendly. Myself and my husband will definitely be dinning here again .

My Wife and I have just visited the Courtyard Restaurant which has just opened. I'm glad we did. The highlight for me was the Steak and my wife loved the Sticky pork 'Lolipops'. I thought the atmosphere was nice and the team there, while new, were pretty much on top of things - very friendly. I visit the area occasionally and have usually had dinner at the pub in Dunston - it's nice but this is my new favorite. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
