The very first time we came, a few years ago now, we said it was as good as Rick Stein’s. Never anything less than good in our other visits last night was stunningly good. Fresh crab and scallops as starters, fresh, delicious and a perfect portion size.
Mains were the hake and halibut (boy, that must have been a big fish as my portion was a generous fillet across the fish). Cooked ‘to the point’ with the local potatoes that are excellent in their own right.
And we’re already booked for next week. As far as fish is concerned, you’ve ‘brought it home’.
The fish is the star of the show here. We have eaten there twice this week and both meals were great. The fish and chips is wonderful with the best lightest crisp batter ever. Portions are huge so make sure you are hungry. Porthgain crab starter was fresh and tasty with a good lime mayonnaise and tomato concasse. The monkfish and prawn Thai curry had a terrific flavour and was accompanied by a mixture of wild rice varieties that was excellent. Desserts are good but don't miss the walnut and Welsh Whisky tart with cream. It is to die for and people ring up to reserve it! Lovely friendly staff who run up and down the stairs a million times so please leave a gratuity for them. It's a great place to eat just make sure you book to avoid disappointment.
Great fish and chips with a lovely Greek salad. Eaten on the green in the sunshine listening to the live music at the local pub with a lovely atmosphere of gentle evening harbour seaside hustle and bustle. Definitely worth a visit . The blue lagoon is a short coastal walk away.
Absolutely beautiful cod and chips at the shed. We had a French lady serving us who has been here for 27 years. Very quick service. What a beautiful part of the world.
I highly recommend a visit if you're in the area.
Superb from start to finish. Excellent service and attentive staff. The menu was excellent 👌 The food absolutely first class. Really enjoyed our evening as celebrated a special occasion together ❤️. Pre book as its a gem of a find and very popular. The take away food looked superb too.
Wow, what a fantastic place to eat. Right beside the harbour, a very quaint little area. But a popular place for walkers and cyclists. We booked a table and got there a bit earlier and they had our table ready to welcome us in. The girls were very pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu. Lots of delicious 😋 choices. Would have been great if they had more non-alcoholic drinks to choose. Things to note down, car parking is free here but pleased we got here early because it was limited and no dogs are allowed inside.
For the past 4 years we’ve come here and had a takeaway - it’s so good! For the first time this year we came and sat in. It was lush, lovely decor, friendly service and a delicious menu. Highly recommend after a good walk across the cliffs 🌊
Excellent food! The blonde teenager serving outside had a brilliant personality. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Inside was full on a Tuesday evening, which is a testament to how good the restaurant is. The outside was also very busy with the takeaway constantly taking orders. The service remained rapid and the quality very high.
Relaxed, easy parking, great location, interesting history. Far better than Abercastle and Newquay where regulations make you scared to park.
Good simple choice of food and drinks. Will come again and recommended already to our friends
We come to The Shed every year whilst on holiday in St David's simply because it's the best fish and chips we've ever had. The location is fantastic, staff are brilliant and the food is exceptional.
Our meal this evening was up to their usual brilliant standards and a quick walk on the coast path afterwards gave us the most beautiful sunset.
I'm gutted it's going to be a year before we can come back.

We popped in here for some lunch. It was a hot day and all the tables outside were taken so we ordered take away. Service was a little patchy with a longish wait to order at the hut outside. That said the food was served almost immediately and the fish and chips was amazing. Dare I say the best I've had!! £6.20 for a pint did seem steep though!!
Quite possibly the freshest, crispiest and friendliest fish and chips experience I’ve ever did have
