The Deerstalker Bar & Bistro

We were very excited to be staying at this hotel on our visit to Portrush. Hotel and restaurant are very modern. Although we were visiting in late September, service in the restaurant was very slow probably due to staff shortages to handle the volume of customers. Bar staff and front desk staff had to pitch in to ease the load. Food was great. Stayed in Room 11 on third floor. Although it had a great view of Royal Portrush golf course, the layout was very tight. Room is not a typical square shaped layout. It was obtuse in design and very tight when you add the king size bed. Not Much room to layout two suitcases. One thing to point out is the huge development of mobile homes being built on property. The adjacent area is surrounded by mobile homes and this hotel and restaurant will be the epicentre.

I'm going to break it down into areas Reception 5star On arrival they were so nice Bar and Restaurant 5star Food and staff here were amazing Rooms 5star, really clean, modern, warm, cozy bed. Really good rooms Breakfast 3star This is where I think it's let down. The food was excellent but the breakfast staff just made you feel like you were a nuisance as I did stay for 3 nights I got the same treatment every morning (except the last as i checked out early) so it just seems to be the way it's done. There was only 4 people at breakfast at 9am and there were 3 staff inside the counter and after a long wait I went up and asked them could I get something and they said yes have you a menu and I said no, no one gave me anything. They brought the menu and not a hello a sorry for delay or anything, i was really put off as after paying for breakfast and the rest of the hotel being so good breakfast was a real let down and I'd prefer book room only and eat at the filling station down the road. I asked another guest what he thought and he said he stays a lot and breakfast is 99% of the time the same and he also said a let down. It was a hard choice between a 3 and a 4star rating but I'm going 4 stars and as I will stay again I will see is this type of breakfast service normal for this hotel

I'm so happy we stayed here for a night out ❤️ Our signature room was so elegant and modern, spacios, perfectly clean, lovely interior colors. The rain shower is the best. We enjoyed our dinner, the food was great, especially ribs and wings combo and a chowder. The service was too long though but the staff is great, polite and friendly. Think twice if you want to take sushi for a starter. The portion is ridiculously small, 3 tiny pieces for 9 pounds :D
