Tuscan Kitchen

Really fabulous new spot in Portsmouth. It’s an old bank and still has the cool bank doors! Super sleek and stylish inside and tall ceilings. Great atmosphere and very safe during COVID. My party asked to be sat away from other people and they gave us our own room! They were so nice and the manager was super helpful. We also wanted the game on the tv by us and the manager came in and turned it on for us. Really fabulous bread and oil as well as the Bolognese and burger!!! Highly recommend you give this place a try as they just opened and need the support. Thank you, Toscana!

The burger and fries are very good and well priced. The Caesar salad was extremely disappointing and overpriced...some chopped romaine (not a lot) and dressing. We couldn't detect any cheese. What was most distressing was the number of people in the restaurant and people allowed in WITHOUT masks. That's not OK - especially now, during a surge. They should offer curbside if they are going to allow idiots in without masks so that innocent people, who are trying to be careful, are not subjected to someone else's ignorance.

Toscana is very nice inside and the wine and drinks are well done. I was not impressed with my waitress as I was never offered the "special", for that night which after asking was short rib. When the food came I was never offered pepper ? Moving on, I had the lobster corn soup, it was filled with lobster claw meat but it was very bland. Next the main course was Bolognese and it was ok but again very bland. For the kind of money you pay I expect "WOW" when I tried the food however there was no WOW factor ? The bathrooms are downstairs if you can find them ? Last I was expecting Italian and to feel like I was at an Italian restaurant but the music playing in the restaurant was the Clash and AC/DC, two fine bands but not while I'm dining with thoughts of Tuscany in my head over wine and pasta. Maybe my expectations were too high (much like the prices of their steaks, $50,00 for a ribeye am I in NYC ?) I guess if I want to feel Italian for the evening eating some "WOW" Italian food in Portsmouth, I think I'll go back to Massimo's....

The food at this authentic Italian eatery is exquisite, but pricey. The wait staff is very professional and efficient. Had I the means and wherewithal I would be at this restaurant at least weekly. Handicap parking is conveniently located at the entrances. The pasta is all made in-house with imported Italian semolina flour. The bread is also made in house with imported Italian ingredients. Don't pass it up, it is the genuine article. Recently the owner split the Tuscan kitchen and Tuscan market. The Tuscan kitchen is still on Route 1 bypass in Portsmouth and the Tuscan market is being moved into downtown Portsmouth at 14 Market Square. This will be convenient shopping for Portsmouth residence, not so much for those of us coming from away. If you have a special event such as an anniversary call ahead and the staff will make your visit very memorable. We have not yet been let down.

What an awesome date night. My husband got the HUGE bone in rib eye and I got the filet. Both were cooked perfectly. The bearnaise sauce was incredible as was the marscarpone mashed potatoes to accompany it. We got the crispy motz app which was AMAZING. service was great, people were nice. Love this place. Have been before and will be back again. Love the space and love that we have this downtown!
