Minnies Kitchen

Me and my partner went for dinner for her birthday and absolutely loved it! I have never heard of this place before, it’s a little hidden gem! From the get go the food was lovely, everything cooked perfect and super tasty! I had the steak, beautifully cooked and the chips were amazing. My partner had the chicken which was delicious and the flavours were beautiful. Even the bottled beer was lovely, never heard of the brand before! The best thing about this place is it’s intimate, it wasn’t overly busy and the owners took time to come and have a chat and make you feel welcome, you feel like a guest in their home which is hard to find in a restaurant! There’s nothing they wouldn’t do for you! Overall we had one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had, so much so that we decided to not to go out for drinks but instead finish on a perfect note and go home! If I had to have one tiny little niggle it was that I wanted a table later but 19:30 was the latest I could i have…there was a couple of tables next to us that we’re still free at 22:00. There maybe a reason for this and actually it worked out better for us. Can’t wait to go back again and take some friends! Thank you for a wonderful evening!!

Delightful restaurant. First time visit with last minute booking selected for its reputation. Totally exceeded my expectations. Wonderful variety of foods with unusual combinations that blended perfectly. Really top notch and cannot wait to return when back in the area, although I would be tempted to travel a roundtrip of more than 130miles to dine again on a special occasion. Lovely hosts.

Exceptional! There were so many great things about Minnies that went into making the night a very special and memorable one. The surprise phone call to let us know that they had a cancellation. The service that was efficient, attentive and informal without trying to be your best friend. But, at the centre of it all was the food with imaginative dishes that worked incredibly well. The figurative cherry on the cake that was just an accompaniment, but which was the best chocolate ice cream (homemade of course) I have had outside if Italy. All accompanied with an excellent choice of drinks for each course served in a cosy atmosphere. We can't wait to go back.

My friend and I visited this little gem of a place back in July and were thoroughly impressed with the quality of their food and service. The restaurant was busy with locals and their attentive and friendly service absolutely explains why! We had a three course meal and everything from the cured salmon appetizer to the rum raisin and chocolate desserts was visually beautiful and healthily delicious. When I told them that it was one of the best food I had eaten in the UK (we drove from London) was not an exaggeration! PS. I am sorry for a late review but we are looking forward to eating there again soon xx

Everything about this restaurant is spot on. The food is unpretentious but beautifully presented, well sourced and beyond tasty. Particularly loved the duck starter and that lamb! ( and onglet! and pork!) The menu whilst not extensive is varied and offers equally scrummy meat, fish and vegetarian options. Service is attentive but not intrusive and the restaurant itself is relaxed and comfortable. Cant wait to try the chefs special steak pie!

Delightful experience! The menu is thoughtful and caters for a variety of dietary preferences. We have not tried their wines this time, but their homemade lemonade was just perfect for the summer evening. I had the rösti - crunchy, soft on the inside, and beautifully paired with spinach, asparagus and a poached egg; my partner, who is a lamb aficionado, enjoyed every bit of his roast of lamb. But what really surprised our senses were the desserts: strawberries extravaganza and rhubarb cheesecake... both masterfully pairing sweet and sour flavours everywhere. Reasonably priced fine dining and a superb friendly service. Well done team at Minnies!

First visit to Minnie's. Busy downstairs so was taken upstairs, which was bright and airy with the tables well spread out to maintain social distancing. Service was perfect and the food good. We had fish and chips, and the pork followed by Black Forest and affogato. (Sea bass and the beef pictured.) We'll be back!
