Mangosteen

We went to Mangosteen last night for the first time and were blown away. We had been putting it off because we assumed it would be ‘too healthy’ orientated and we feared that it would be a leaving hungry situation. How wrong we were! If you’re on the fence about visiting for this reason take this as your sign to go to Mangosteen immediately! Every single bite touched our souls. The flavour profiles of each dish were so well thought out. From the moment we stepped in and smelled the spices cooking we knew we were in for a treat. My husband is a head chef and he thoroughly approved! I will also add I’ve been vegan for a decade and this goes up there as one of my favourite meals in the last 10 years. I literally cannot wait to return and try the rest of the menu. Id say my favourite dish but all of them were fantastic. It was impeccable. If I could give 6 stars I would. Thank you so much! Wonderful service too.

Amazing food, we ordered lots of small plates to share and you could tell all of it had been made with care. The service was brilliant, the server offered changes to the menu to accommodate for us and we all got complementary turmeric and ginger shots on arrival. Even non-vegan/ vegetarians would be so impressed!! Will definitely be back to try the larger plates.

Such a lovely meal this evening @mangosteensouthsea. Lovely, refreshing food cooked to perfection. The whole meal was amazing. The crispy chilli mushrooms were the best I have had. I highly recommend this place if you are in the Portsmouth or southsea area anytime, drop in and enjoy some great food and hospitality.

I went with one vegetarian and two carnivores (who love veggie food) and I'm vegan. The food was absolutely delicious. I had a starter (bao buns) which was delicious. My main course was a butternut wellington with veg and was so tasty. This was followed by a yummy sticky apple toffee pudding with ice cream which was light and tasty. The service was great and we were thrilled to meet Joel the Chef to thank him. He was so humble, acknowledging that he was part of a team which we thought was great. The decor was simple but lovely and the atmosphere was great. I couldn't fault a thing about this restaurant, it was brilliant. I'd here again but I live 316 miles away! If you live close enough to eat here, then you are very fortunate! All four of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal

This place is a must go, vegan, vegetarian or carnivore you HAVE TO GO! No matter your diet everyone will be able to enjoy the full range of flavours that the food comes with. Our waiter was extremely engaging and knowledgeable, also had a great character which added mounds of enjoyment to the night. Decor is intimate, and cosy, only two points I could pick up were the centre tables could do with being slightly more sturdy, especially after a few glasses of there wine on order, and the Korean bao bun would hit another level if it was served warm. But other than that, Mangosteen thank you for an amazing evening, and I recommend everyone goes here! UPDATE - I have since been back and had the Jackfruit Tacos and Ramen and was equally as happy with the quality of food, and the service excels expectations!

Had a fantastic meal here with a couple of my colleagues in late 2022. Very pleasant dining experience! All the dishes were very well though out and the drinks were really good as well! Long menu with lots of options suitable for all diets (GF as well)! Sure I’ll be back here next time I’m in Portsmouth!

My husband booked us a table here as a treat for me, I'm vegetarian and he eats meat, usually when we go out to eat I only have a couple of options so it was amazing being able to pick from the whole menu! I had the aloo chat and the Shahi thali and it was absolutely delicious. My husband had a bao bun and the mushroom tagliatelle, he said it was so flavourful he didn't miss meat at all. The food was beautifully presented and the atmosphere was amazing too, I will definitely be going back!

The food was absolutely wonderful, I took my family members who are both newbies to vegan food and they were blown away by the food. The menu appears to be 100% vegan now. Some highlights were the Bang Bang Broccoli, The Plant Taco, Pho and the Parmesan fries. There was a pretty big table of around 20 in with us and that usually affects the service but it didn't make a single problem in our service at all. They were all friendly and the food came out quick.
