Love Purley

Went here for a birthday meal and also the seafood festival. Have to say the food here is excellent and reasonably priced, while the owner/host and staff are very personable. Would recommend for date nights and occasions. Also definitely try and book a sea food festival table, the portions are immense as well as tasty, could not finish everything they put in front of us. Would definitely return at the next chance. A Gem in Purley

I went for a early quiet birthday dinner on a Monday evening. Service was professional and once the waiter had a couple more tables to serve it really warmed up. We had the mussels and scallops for starters and the two different salt cods for the mains. Everything was delicious and plated up beautifully as you can see in the pics. Only the size of the scallops were abit of a let down, for 4 scallops I would like them to be big or given a couple more to make up for the small size. The main portions were massive in comparison and really filled us up. The only other qualm was that the smell of food really permeated all our clothing. (I suppose it was an open kitchen). But other than that we would return to try the rest of the menu.

We very much enjoyed our evening at Love Purley. The owner really made sure we enjoyed the food and drink choices we made, always checking in on us. I ordered the octopus which was cooked perfectly and served with some simple potatoes. My partner had the beef short rib that came with amazing creamy mash potatoe, which he very much enjoyed. The prawns to start were also very delicious. Dessert options were limited however we enjoyed the creme brulee even though it isn't something I'm normally a fan of. The pineapple dessert was simple but refreshing. We are planning to return in a few weeks and look forward to another enjoyable meal.

Amazing food, amazing service, the other reviewers use of "astonishing" is fitting. This might be one of the best meals I've had out, which another reviewer has also said. I had the monkfish myself, which was absolutely delicious. Even the bread and butter were better than average. The only thing I didn't rate was the bao buns (starter), which were more like pitas than fluffy buns. I suggest replacing this with a starter more aligned with the test of the menu! The wine list was massive and very reasonable. I went on a Saturday afternoon. Glad to see Purley is finally getting some more nicer dine-in restaurants.

Nice little restaurant, tastefully decorated. Food was exceptional- I had the lobster risotto which had an abundance of seafood and plenty of lobster. My husband had the octopus and he was extremely pleased with the portion size. I will have to come back to try the cocktails and wines as I am pregnant however the other members of my group were very happy with them. Service was very friendly which is always a bonus and the owner/chef came out to say hello too at the end of the evening.

Had a lovely evening at Love Purley staff were fantastic ambiance is lovely and food was absolutely gorgeous. So nice to have something a bit different and special in Purley. Joao takes pride in his food and the staff are very attentive. Adventurous husband looking forward to working his way through the menu.
