As we are always looking for new eateries, came across the hungry duck as it came highly recommended. A small little bistro on the main street of Ramsbottom, it's a cosy little place but never felt claustrophobic. The service was very good and the staff atentative. Set meal for 2 courses is £18 so they have set the pricing about right, £22 gets you desert too. Onto the food! My wood pigeon (locally shot, had a piece of shot to prove it) with black pudding and beetroot was perfectly cooked, pink and gamey. The red wine sauce and rhubarb coulis a perfect match. Sues mushroom risotto rich and creamy dotted with brie it was rich and comforting. The sea bream with spinach mash potatoes, tender stem broccoli was light and flavourful, the added goats cheese adding another dimension. Sue went simple, a huge baked onion and Cheshire cheese pie with a side salad. Of course I had to finish it, by hell the pastry was some of the best I've tasted and full to the brim with melting cheese. Looking around the deserts looked nice, but we had our fill. ........ next time maybe

First visit today for my mothers birthday. Can't praise it enough. Being vegetarian and usually struggling to find anything appealing on the menu was pleasantly surprised to find things that exceeded my expectations. Defo would recommend and can't wait to visit again. New fav place. Staff very welcoming.

Amazing food in a cute restaurant, really blown away by the quality of the meals and the thoughtfulness in putting it together. Liked it so much we went back for breakfast which again was fantastic.

Fantastic little bistro like restaurant in the heart of Ramsbottom. Service was excellent and welcoming. The food was warming and on point, everyone thoroughly enjoyed their Sunday dinners. I’d highly recommend!

Lovely local cafe with a great Australian chef who understands how to source quality ingredients and wines. Seasonal dishes with quirky inclusions (Bulgur wheat risotto with Butternut squash was a non stodgy alternative to rice) A hidden gem for the jaded gourmand to seek out!

Absolutely Fabulous! Joe made us feel as though no one else was in the restaurant. He was absolutely fabulous! Of course, the food was to die for. The steak was cooked to perfection. No seasoning required. A relaxed atmosphere, divine food, and absolutely fabulous service. Thank you, Joe!

Fantastic food and great service. Really nice selection of meal options and some great cocktail choices. The staff were all friendly and attentive but left you to it once they knew you were happy. Highly recommended to all, and we will definitely be going back.

Food and staff were lovely. Small, quaint place in lovely little town, a real hidden gem. Tried the latest addition to their wine menu, a lovely English white, definitely recommend. Dining times are a little funny so call in advance if first time. Think they open for dinner at 5 pm and stop serving at 7:45pm. Parking on main road or, there is a car park up a little side street directly facing the restaurant.

We were a party of 4. Two of us ordered the set meal at £18 which is fantastic value. All the courses were delicious, the steak tartare was fresh, flavoursome and tender. One of us had the croquettes which whilst light and fluffy, packed weight in cheesy flavour, lovely. All main courses were eagerly devoured with noises of appreciation. Two of us had the lamb kebabs, one the pork and I had the sirloin steak, peanut sauce and Dauphinoise. I did wonder about the combination but all worries were cast aside. The potatoes, one of my favourite dishes, were absolutely wonderful. The chef had sliced the potatoes so finely they were transparent. They were buttery, soft on the inside with crispy edges. We all finished with the honey cake. It was just the right side of sweet, unctuous with honey and complemented with soft plums. The sponge was light with crispy buttery edges, divine. The service was welcoming, friendly and casual. It was lovely not to feel rushed through the courses which is increasingly common in some establishments. However, we did feel that the staff could have been more pro active in terms of asking about drinks. We were chasing them a bit and noticed that when we attracted their attention, other tables followed suit. It is likely we would have had another round of drinks and coffees. We fully appreciate it is a difficult balance between over formality and allowing customers space to relax and enjoy, but we felt that customer and owner might benefit from more oversight of front of house. Overall though, a lovely evening with really high quality food, prepared with skill and heart.

Definitely the tastiest, most well thought out and executed meal we've had in Rammy for a long time. We will most definitely be back.
